Is there a market for a base 05 with solo mods?
I've had my car, 05 Base 6spd, for just over a year (8.2k miles) and auto-xed it about 9 times. Installed the OTS Koni SA, K+N element and got it aligned, 710s with about 50 runs installed on Enkei wheels. Anyone have an opinion regarding selling it as a BS foundation car or parting out and selling to private market?
Love the car but am going to buy something I don't mind my 16 year old son co-driving with me.
Thanks

i believe team wtf tried selling their fully prepped rx8 and ended up parting it out. you may have to do the same...
that being said, i am also interested in the rims and tires. if you do part it out, how much shipped to 46077? thx.

I know of a few Solo II prepped cars that have sold for good prices over the last couple of months...I'd definitely post it on the region board (as suggested by baggy), the SCCA forums board and this one, before starting to part out mods.

FWIW, it took me about three weeks to sell my C Stock '99 Miata as an autocross package last fall. I also bought an '04 RX-8 is a B Stock package deal at Nats. Another local sold his B Stock '05 RX-8 as a package deal to someone in Vegas around the same time.
There are people out there looking to buy package cars. I'd suggest listing on sccaforums.com, along with whatever your local Region uses for communication.

Keep it for sale. I'll be looking for an RX8 many months from now and a BS prepped one would be a real plus. If someone is going to buy an RX8 to autocross, might as well get one with the stuff you'de have to buy anyways. I'm putting around GS in my Jetta for now in the CFR.

My BS prep'd base '04 has been on the market since late November, and I haven't had a whole lot of interest so far. I have a guy who wants to look at it this weekend, but he's not an autox'r. Shameless plug ahead...

Personally, I think there might be some more interest in late Feb/early March as most club autox seasons start to ramp up. I'd rather sell mine now so I can buy and prep another car for HPDE season, which starts in late Feb for me.

For comparison purposes, I bought imp's old car at Nationals for $20k. '04 Sport with 15k miles at the time of purchase. It came with a competition history (multiple Tour and Pro wins, trophied at Nats in '05 & '06). It came with the OEM wheels and tires, a set of legal SSR Comps, 2 sets of V710s, Konis, and a lightweight exhaust. Now that's an autocross-ready package. Yours doesn't really offer much to the average autocrosser - in fact, if they don't decide to pay extra for the OEM wheels you've got, they don't even have a legal set of wheels, which they'd at least get buying a used RX-8 off of a car lot somewhere.
This is just an observation from someone who actually went shopping for an autocross ready used RX-8 in the last couple of months. People like me are your prime target audience... but I don't see anything in your package that would convince me to buy your car instead of one down at my local CarMax. Just my $.02.

You have a very good point. The car is more "BS Legal" than "BS prepped." I do have an interested party right now, but if that does not pan out, I may change the wording of the ad a bit.

I would have been very interested but your timings a little off. I bought my '05 base in December and then bought Clydes parts a few weeks ago. Although I would have bought a prepped car, I'm looking forward to learning about my car while doing the upgrades myself.
Good luck!
