With the RX-8's low center of gravity and wide stance, the only way you could roll would be to trip on a kerb or other trackside object.

He is entered in BS (along with Julie) for the tour. Entry list is HERE.

I am VERY glad he is coming, as it will give us the benchmark we need to know how much faster we need to be to be nationally competitive.

We don't expect to be competitive with Jason at this event, but we are going to (hopefully) make him work for it.......

:D :D

Nothing in life should be a given... other than death or taxes. :D

Have you tried the 285s yet or still sticking with the 275s? I find being able to use that width amazing... and would be fantastic in the STU class.

(And if I had my way, the only given would be death)

The only available A3S04's were the 275's, and there are only two sets of those in the world (and I have one of them), so we are going to compete on them for the tour.

The decision to go to 285's will need a little more testing to decide, but we are thinking the 275's are big enough for now. We have been happy enough with the stick on the roadrace compound, so we're thinking the autocross compound should be the right "behaviour" we are looking for.

I will keep everyone informed as to how it goes. Unless it rains (we only have two sets of Hoosiers), we hope to be (at least) in the top 5.

Just keep your fingers crossed for us..........

Does the 285 come close to fitting? I'd think that if it did, it would be a no brainer. Every little bit of traction helps.

Does NE1 know if adding the sway bars/strut towers will put you out of BS? What would be the things I could change that would improve my car's performance and still keep BS (besides tires and cat-back)?

For BS:

You can change the front sway bar, but not the rear.
You can not add a strut tower brace, but are allowed one if it came from the factory (NOT the dealer).
You can change to adjustable shocks (if anyone ever makes them - I am waiting patiently, sort of).
You can add a "drop-in" air filter replacement (we have tried the K&N, and then removed it).
Otherwise, tires and cat-back are it - even though these two things will make the most difference.

No rear bar, no programmable ECU's, no body kits, no steering wheel changes, no seat changes, etc.

Having said all of that, if you are only running at a local level, they are very relaxed (typically) with the rules. It's only when you get to (at least) the Divisional level that it will matter, unless you beat someone who you are not supposed to beat - then all of a sudden, it will matter a LOT -

It is, as always, better too be legal for the class, then you don't have to worry about it.

If you want to modify your car beyond the BS rules, you might consider the new class that was just created - it looks fun.

Anyway, hope that helps.

Yes, that helps a lot! I don't think they're running the new class here in SA. I'm just running Nov-BS for now...
