Hello all this is my initial post on your forum. I have recently test drove an rx8 with my mom who is looking for a summer sports car that is reasonable with kids and fun to drive. After she drove the 350Z i recomended the rx8 for comparison and she absolutley loved it. The dealer just gave us the keys so i got drive it through some twisties and i must say the car is an amazing handler.. and its just so hard to not love revving it up to 9k. Sure it is lacking a little tourque but thats where the advice is needed. I have been researching this sight all night/morning and have read several posts on the popular cazoomer ecu upgrades and exhaust compliments along with several stock 1/4 mile times threads and i was wondering what is a stage 1 and 2 running in the 1/4 mile? now i know that the horsepower claimed by the factor feels about right its just the tourque that i think is lacking. ive also read articles where low dyno numbers could have been due to the lack of the front wheels moving and some kind of abs interference or something if i remember correctly... also i cant understand how anyone can think this car is slow... as a owner of a 12.6 @109 mph subaru wrx... my moms project car is a 69 camaro ss with a 383 fuel injected 500bhp engine... the car still felt fast and put smiles on both of our faces... so to conclude some insight on what the car will run in the 1/4 with the popular mods would be extrememly helpful.

I don't think anyone thinks the car is slow, but some argue that it lacks a little umph (myself included) and that the Mazda rating is still a bit ambitious.

I don't think anyone really knows what the car will run with the Canzoomer mod, at least I haven't seen track times. On pure speculation alone you're probably looking at low 14s with a good driver since the best anyone has been able to come up with (besides Ito) is high 14s and low 15s. If she liked the car I wouldn't worry much about 1/4 miles times, she can use the Camaro for that.
