Have a 2006 RX8 Touring with the Sunroof. I am interested in removing the sunroof and filling it in - because of 2 reasons: * Limited headroom with helmet & * weight savings.

Since Street class allows package conversion between variants in the same model year - would it be legal for me to do the sun-roof delete? To the best of my knowledge there are no mechanical differences between Sport and Touring (other than the plastic bits and stereo - which Street rules allow to be changed anyway).

Any pointers would be appreciated.

 

im not sure about the class rules but iirc a member here deleated his sunroof. i think it was slvrstreak. check out his build thread

 

Like cut the roof off another car and weld in place of your roof...sounds OK.

 

You should probably contact the S.E.B. for a ruling on this before doing the conversion. I have a feeling that it isn't legal.
