MO What do you think about re11s

I am needing new set of tires for my Enkei rims, thinking about potenza re11s in 255/40/17 since my 245/45/18 re11s lasted long and really stuck well. What do you guys think about those compared to others?

Priced to high compared to the others in the market.

You should buy my 255/40/17 Toyo R1R's that I have for sale.

.
I prefer the RS3's over the Star spec but that just because I race in Florida and the local club track is ~80 seconds long and in 3rd gear.
I have decided to stay in STX and get a cheap stock body as I think the car will be more competitive then going to DSP not to mention a lot cheaper. Currently DSP is a tiny class compared to STX its not fun running uncontested.

Thanks, needed a good laugh already been a bad week. Gotta say haven't heard of very many rotary nuts like us that aren't trustworthy. All of you have given good suggestions and now I am thinking I will try the Star Specs but I sure did like my Bridgestones

I initially tried RE-11s in early 2010. They weren't on the car very long.

I'm interested in your RS3's I have sent you a email (your PM is full). Please let me know a price shipped to 34238.
I was wondering why you chose to go with the 245's when you can get 255 in the RS3 and 265 on the Star specs? Surely the weight saving does not make up for the added grip.

I won't speak for Mark, but how do you know that the 255s or 265s would provide more grip on 9" wheels? The stated tread width is slightly larger, but street tires can be very sensitive to wheel width, and if the wheel width is not adequate, they might not actually put any more rubber on the ground than 245s. What is the overall diameter of the wider tires? Are they taller and therefore less advantageous when it comes to gearing?

Be careful in assuming that a wider section width means more grip, or that more lateral grip means a faster car.

265 star spec is crap in the 17". Too big of a sidewall.

255's will be faster on some courses, and 245's will be faster on others...

I have always had 18x8 until 2 weeks ago so wanted to know what was best as I need tires for for my 17's. Don't the 255 RS3's have a stiffer sidewall than the 245?
My wheels are 17x8 I wanted wider but but they were local and the price was right so should I stick with the 245's

It sounds like you're not maxing out your allowances anyway, so if the 245s are the right price, go for it.

No love for the AD08? I've been running these on the r3 19x8 wheels - there aren't any star specs or r1r's that will fit, and it's too cold in the Midwest to use rs-3 as a street tire. They have an odd feel to them, where they seem to be able to slip quite a bit before they let go. More so than the pilot super sports (amazing rain/road tire) at least. Makes them pretty fun to drive on, and it seems to work well on all of the unfortunately seal coated lots around chicago.

Have any of you more experienced folks tried these out?

they have great response, but lack ultimate grip and are one of the most expensive tires too.

Done with the SCCA for a while. I plan on letting each person on the SEB know how I feel personally. What a horrible decision to make.

I was just coming to say "see you in DSP ...." which is also listed

apparently the SEB made the call on the BRZ/FRS, sounds like it caught the STAC by surprise

I think that as the Subaru BRZ/Scion FR-S has 4 seats so it should be in STX. I really hope it does not ruin STX though.
I noticed Rx8 to DSP. I might think about that for Next year

Some people say the same thing about STX. Had any of the serious BMW 3s run the Pro Series the results there may have mirrored Nats. No RX8 has ever won in STX at Nats yet.

Nobody has really done a serious RX8 in SP trim yet, only one or two that are kind of halfway there.

Also, the same thing was said about the E46 back in the day. It just took a few people to finally build and drive them to where they are now ...

I'd like to do a ***** to the wall full out DSP build if for no other reason than to get it a step closer to SM, just not sure I have the funds to see it through.

.

gentlemen,

have a setup question...wondering if a 18x8.5 with +35 offset will rub? i run about 6-7 events a year but its also a daily driver, stock suspension, possible Koni/spring set up later on...will probably run with 245/40 Toyo R1R. Any help would be great thanks

for that rim you will be better off to use the 225/40. The R1R is very particular in this regard. It will also be less likely to rub, which you should be fine with the 225
