Start from Heartland Park last weekend
this is just a great video. Hope Rob Lay who took it doesn't mind me posting here. I am the silver #18 in front of him until I early apex and blow the carousel exit.
The leader and the silver car that gets taken out by the blue one are two of the Mazda factory cars.

Thanks, awesome video. It actually looked like you apexed a lot later than Rob, but just got on the gas too early.
Are there any more vids like this? I think that might be the first I've seen of RX8's club racing. Is it just 8's in the class (T3 right?) or are there other competitive cars? Judging by this clip, I think I'll stick to autocrossing for the time being.

It's a tough corner, the apex is actually really long, I just couldn't hold the car in that time around.
Yes, it's T3, the RX-8 and Cobalt/Ion Redline are the top cars. The Cobalt/Redlines have supercharger pulley and spring upgrade, to help them compete. Other cars that are potential sleepers are the Mazdaspeed turbo Miata nd the Suburu Legacy GT/WRX (you can see a dark blue Legacy briefly at the beginning of the video). Other cars include the IS300, Audi TT, and BMW Z4.
And don't be too scared by that clip - it's from the last National race at the Runoffs (championship) track, and that is usually a bit of a zoo. The Runoffs and some important Nationals are crazy in the Touring/Showroom Stock classes, lots of bumping and banging, but club racing is not generally like that.

Cool, thanks for the info. It's nice that the SCCA has the RX8 classed well for both Club Racing and Solo. Looks like a lot of fun, too bad it costs so much $$$

Nice video! I had some time attacks yesterday on a short track in south Sweden. First i only managed 1.15.2 but at the end of the day i went 1,13.6s, The only street car thar was quicker than me was a BMW M4 that weighed 1150 kg (2535lbs) it went 1.11,6s with roll cage upgraded suspension and so on. My RX-8 is stock except for R-type tires Bridgestone RE540S 245/40-18 on Braid wheels and dynoed 242 hp. What type of R-tires do you guys recommed for a 18"*8" wheel?

+1. Looks like the blue car is leaning on the silver one down the straight, then the silver car gives him a "watch it, buddy" swipe... so blue comes back and tries to spin the silver car, and takes himself and his "opponent" out in the process. Niiiice driving.

Who were the two involved in the incident? I hope the Blue car was called before the stewards.
