Thanks.
I'm glad we're running (BS) early afternoon, that will give more time to load up and tow up to El Toro and make an earlier flight to the Bay Area

BSL running last heat will be a problem for us if the event runs late on Sunday

Maybe fly out of SD and see if one of the locals can drive your rig up to the storage facility at El Toro?

That sux. I hate it when travel plans are under a tight schedule.

Not a bad idea. I will have the Expedition and the RX8 in SD but no trailer. I could tow your trailer up and leave it at Eltoro if you just want to drive your truck to the airport.

that's an idea

DKNV and her daughter are scheduled to fly out at 7 PM Sunday night. I don't fly out myself until Monday AM. The issue is getting them to the airport in time for their flight. I was planning on leaving the truck & trailer parked at the airport lot during the week. It worked out better for us to fly back to SD the next Fri. AM and drive up to ElToro then rather than after SD.

Dropping UUURMAYBENOTSUCHABADGUYAFTERALL a PM

just finished getting the car together this morning at 3:30 AM, wasn't sure it was going to make it for this weekend broke an ABS cable and didn't discover I ordered the wrong one until last night and then broke a plastic vacuum fitting on the intake , having a 2nd RX-8 to rob parts from saved the day

Help! What is your tire guys magic secret to getting a 245 710 to seat? I've been to 2 different shops now, even the Goodyear race tire place in town couldn't figure it out. Need the tires on by tomorrow, Advice/Hints/Heckling???

Thanks-

ChopsMcgraw,

I also had trouble getting the 245 Kuhmo to seat on the stock wheels. In my case is was related to the shape of the inside bead area. It is squared off on one side and rounded on the other side of the wheel.

To get them to seat, we flipped the wheels on the tire machine, so that the back side of the wheel was facing up, therefore using the "rounded" area to allow the tire to seat much more easily.

Hope this helps,
Matt

Use Euro tire paste, not the water and soap crap. Make sure the tire is warm, set it out in the sun. If that fails stop by my house on the way to the event. Bring cash.

I use to struggle with them even with all that. Then Mike Taylor from Kumho told me to take the guts out of my air chuck, the one built into the tire changer, It does not seem to matter how much air pressure you have the chuck has a lot of restriction. Now with the guts out of it I can get them on with only 60 psi, with the guts in I hard a hard time at 90 psi.

on an 8" rim it's quite common especially if the tire isn't up to a certain temperature, there are techniques that get it done though

btw, this is a ask me how I know you can pretty much writeoff any tire store that doesn't specialize in mounting race tires, the usual tire jockey won't have a clue how to get them to seat

Yeah, I remembered the thread but couldn't find it.

Tires are at the Goodyear/Shelby Shop right now, I'll bug them about the techniques and hopefully they'll get them on. Thanks all, see you in SD.
