Cut or flair fenders (for 295+ tires with equally wide wheels)

Any high-back seat (no minimum weight limit)

Any steering wheel (no air bag requirement)

front splitter & rear spoiler aero is allowed, but no aftermarket rear wings (there is an SP aero proposal out in the latest FastTrack to delete or modify the rule)

Stereo/speakers/amps can be removed (wiring must remain, any resulting holes must be covered)

Any single brake master cylinder or brake booster.

A single bolt-on master cylinder brace is allowed.

A brake proportioning valve is allowed.

No limit on rotor cross-drilling surface area

Brake backing plates can be modified or removed. Brake air ducts are allowed as long as the body/structure is not modified

Steering rack bushings can be changed as long as the metal content is equal or less than OEM

Any ignition system or component is allowed

Any oil pan, oil pump, or oil pump pickup is allowed, including an Accu-sump

Fuel injection and intake manifold are unrestricted, including injectors, rails, throttle body, linkage, pressure regulator, etc.

All emission control devices may be modified or removed

Intake water injection is allowed

Any fuel pump(s) is(are) allowed, any fuel line is permitted up to 1/2" ID with one supply line, one return line, and an added fitting is allowed at the top of the fuel tank (allows converting the RX8 non-return system to an external return system with a second pump in the RH saddle to eliminate the siphon pickup configuration)

Any gasoline fuel is permitted (E85 is already allowed)

Any radiator is allowed as long as it uses the OE mounts and is equal or larger in size, fluid capacity, and dry weight than OE (may serve no other purpose such as allow a cold air intake passage, etc.)

Any radiator fan & shroud is permitted (except flex-fans, not applicable)

Any clutch & flywheel is permitted, an alternate slave cylinder/device is permitted (allows conversion from slave/mechanical actuator to full hydraulic direct actuator)

Engine & drivetrain components may be balanced

Intake and exhaust port matching is permitted within 1" of the interface joint

Any aftermarket engine computer is allowed (MoTeC, etc.)

Update/backdate between 2004-2008 and 2009-2011 vehicle components assuming they are listed on the same classing line

With the recent bump in STX pax, I'm not more tempted to play in DSP next year...Locally at least.

Bumped the wrong direction. 0.822 to 0.827. DSP didn't jump nearly that much.

They must think the new crop of street tires will be about half a second or more faster than the current top tires...Although STC has still been faster on average than STX..

STX went from 0.822 > 0.827 = 0.005
DSP went from 0.851 > 0.855 = 0.004

They are as close as you can get without being the same, at 0.001 difference.

Remember that all the other classes got hit too so its not like everyone locally is gaining that much on you. However the Miatas will be much better off in CS, ES and ESP.

They reclassified the Rx8 to DSP from BSP then dropped the gap from 0.008 to 0.003 so not quite the advantage we had hoped for.

Here is the pax list which I took from @bassicfun on the NOSIC forum 2013 PAX numbers - NASIOC

If by all the other classes got hit you mean...A few of them didn't.

Locally some of the fastest cars that compete here are BSP, FSP, and SMF cars. I have Jinx Jordan in my region, as well as another super fast SMF drivers, all who usually pax within a tenth of me...Now that my pax went up, and their's stayed the same, or dropped from .859 to .858, yeah that pretty much sucks, unless the new crop of street tires is indeed faster..

they just think that somebody with a halfway decent setup and driving skill finally showed what the class is capable of

all the whining in the world won't make you faster, let alone believing that some stupid number system can equate all classes and drivers, go start a pax thread or something rather than taking your dump in the DSP thread

Whining does not make anyone a faster driver and apparently money does not make you a faster driver either considering you have the most setup Rx8 on the planet and still failed to trophy at Nationals.

You shouldn't really judge how one did at Nationals when you've never competed there yourself...

It's different out there...

With that said, With the help of Motion Lab Tuning, I should be moving to DSP next year.

But i'm also about to buy a E36 328i, or an E36 M3

Well I cannot change the past....

I have however invested $70 on a used midpipe so I feel my car is ready for DSP

nothing you can post here even comes close to the disappointing kick in the face I experienced this year due to repeated equipment failures

good luck to you in DSP

I feel for you, I hate it when I cone my best run never mind when something fails.

I look forward to competing with you guys in 2013, I am just looking to grow as a driver and keep learning every time I race. Everyone say Nationals is a great experience.

Is the Mazdaspeed/AEM intake still an illegal mod in DSP? I know its illegal in STX due to the name of a part(s) that needs to be removed. I take it that it is still not allowed in DSP for the same reason.

Yes. The clarification came from an MX5 inquiry in CSP. It has a similar shield/issue
