Thanks! Sent my letter a while ago. Would be amazing if the proposal goes through, I sure as hell would hate to be embarassed by the times put down by the 4 Vettes and the M3 in my local BSP class

Apparently the process now has two left feet, lol

I think it's just the Abarth going into GS. IIRC, FT noted that the Abarth's lower height fits it in under whatever weird-*** criteria they're using now.

True, but your feelings should be backed up with data. It's not a vote, so "I think the RX-8 should be in DSP" without any data is like no letter at all.

There is a lot of data in this thread and in the thread on sccaforums. Things like potential power levels (especially as compared to the BMWs), width, and weight are all relevant. Your potential level of interest (e.g., I would run an RX-8 in DSP if it were placed there") *might* also help. Make sure to include your SCCA member number; I don't know if they give any weight to letters from non-members.

Correct on the Abarth vs base 500, as far as GS goes...incorrect on "whatever weird-*** criteria they're using now"

The formula has been consistent for years, it is the data source no longer being published which has changed. In the case of the Abarth, we were given the needed data (specifically the CG) to allow calculation of the SSF. We can't get the same info for every car, including the base 500, which then becomes a fale on the other brightline criteria, average width vs. height.

And, yes, the system for making the rollover determination is a problem. But, given insurance and other responsibilities, it can't just be ignored.

I was being facetious on that point.

The best solution would be for automakers to quit making cars with bicycle track widths and pickup truck roof heights.

Another solution would be for autocrossers to get over the idea that they want to autocross said cars in stock form. ;-)

Don't see this in the latest fastrack!

However, there are a few changes to C stock: FR-S & BRZ in... MSR & Z0K out.

FR-S & BRZ in - yes, per Tech Bulletin

MSR & Z0K out - only a proposal at this stage.

I'd be shocked if the second part didn't happen. Those cars can get it done in BS, but will bury the BRZ in CS.

On the bright side, looks like the RX8 will have new life in Stock!

It's only a proposal if they didn't already make up their mind

+1 for sure.

There is a lot of data out there to support this proposal as well. Write your letters to support the change.

Letter number #8382 is currently waiting to be reviewed by the Street Prepared committee. After the Street Prepared committee reviews your letter, the SEB will review it, and it will proceed to Fastrack.

since mid may

Coming soon to a FastTrack near you:

The SEB/**** has recommended for the 2004-2011 Mazda RX8 to be reclassed to D Street Prepared effective 1-1-2013

YES!!!! I assume that 'recommended' means that the board can deny the request still? If so, any idea when the deadline is?

They can, but it's highly unlikely. I think their next meeting is at the end of Sept

Just curious, what more can I do to an STX RX8 when it's moved into DSP besides race tires/aero/cat delete...

Seems like I will still be down on power compared to the BMW's...

This would be great news I will definitely make the change to DSP.
Here is a quick guide to the changes you ca make http://www.odr-scca.org/DIY-classing.htm
It does not look like much on the RX8 here;s some I noticed.
Any wheels & tires
Spoiler/splitter (no wing)
Internal engine mods??? (maybe porting is legal)
Intake manifold
Remove aircon

A question to all you former C stock guys. Do you think Hoosiers will make up for the Pax jump to 0.851 from 0.822

I can't wait! I just stepped out of novice class, so I need to compete the rest of the year in BSP against some ridiculous cars lol. Next year will be awesome.
