does it bother anyone else that the rear sway bar link is mounted about in the middle of the rear control arm? it really makes me wonder if under hard cornering the bar flexes in the middle. has anyone experienced failure of the mounting bracket that is welded to the control arm? i have not, but as rusted as a lot of these arms are in the midwest it makes me wonder if it is going to be a problem, but more so wondering if in a race setting if even a non-rusted arm is at risk of bending. is there a performance advantage to mounting that way or is it just too crowded out at the knuckle for another thing mounted to it?

i did spend a bit of time searching, the only thing i come up with is a lot of discussion about stock and aftermarket bars, and the handling that results. i found nothing on the loads transmitted to the center of the control arm. mind giving me some hints on the correct keywords?

Biggest problem with the stock arm you are talking about in the rear is they have a habit of bending in the middle when you are running high G loads with slicks or sticky tires. I don't know if the sway bar attachment helps that... but I made a custom link with larger chrome moly tubing that stopped that from happening.

Can't remember the part # for the ends... but they were easy and then I picked an insert for the threaded end to match the threads

this is exactly what i am asking about, shouldn't the link mount closer to the knuckle, and not in the middle of the control arm? the bar seems too weak for it to mount in the middle, but i am really wondering if it would be more effective if the mounts happened closer to or on the knuckle.

It usually bends the other way... so i don't think the sway bar is a problem..
