If you assume a worst case of your oil having 'zero' octane rating - then ten gallons of good 93 rated gas mixed (very rich) at 100:1 with would give an overall rating of 92.07....

S

We saw a little over 1.5 hp increase at peak power on 60hp (seriously) vintage Formula Vee motors by going down 4 points in octane. Is it possible that the RX8 could pick up the minimal power improvement noted by RB simply due to very slightly lower octane...rotaries are known to thrive on lower octane fuel, subject to detonation, of course...

I can take the answer easily which you provided.

btw the mid-pipe does not put you in SM, a catted pipe is legal in STX/U, and a catless is legal in BSP.
The modifications I have don't show any significant improvements in performance to warrant what I would believe to be a necessary change in class. The SCCA rules were not written for the RX8. Clearly with most other vehicles a catless mid-pipe yields noticable WHP differences and a hood replacement drops 30+ lbs from the car.

No, the carbon fiber hood is what puts me into Street Modified. That's according to the chapter here local to Phoenix.
