Someone posted a picture on facebook of my car at a recent 12hr race (The Devil in the Dark) at New Jersey Motorsports Park. I love finding random pictures online

AAA Speedway

A nice line up of RX-8s at the NASA race at AAA Speedway earlier this year. This is coming off the third turn on the first lap. I'm the third car on the right - black and gray.

A couple shots of my car from this season. Can't get over the difference between 17's and 18's...transformed the car!

The reduction in rotating mass as well as the improvement in gearing helped improve acceleration out of the corners beyond anything I expected. I knew it would improve the car but it was definitely the best mod for the $$ that I've done to this point. Obviously tires are cheaper too which doesn't hurt.

On the 17" setup (silver) I'm running BFG Rivals in 255/40/17 on a 9.5" wheel and on the 18" setup (black) I was running AD08's in 255/40/18 on a 9.5" wheel also.

The Rivals were definitely the faster tire in both wet and dry which is really all that matters I guess when running time attack. The AD08's seemed to handle heat a little better though but that was really the only positive of the AD08 vs. the Rival in my opinion. I can't speak of either on the road as the car is trailered to/from and not street driven.

Take that with a grain of salt though as I did go from 18" to 17" which was bound to make the car faster anyway. My opinion was that the Rivals seemed to have more overall grip and the AIM Solo was showing good data to help support that.

That looks really good. But please tell me the belt arrangement is temporary and not used on track. They are unsafe like that. Belts stretch in a crash and the longer they are the more they stretch. There should be a bar across the main hoop behind the seat that would also be used for a belt anchor.

The belts in that position are homologated like that as part of the cage.
Therefore are seen as safe by motorsport NZ. (I will take there word on it as they are the experts)
Any stretch would be minimal in a 3" belt
I do know shorter is better.

40 MPH. With properly-short 3" belts.

VERY NICE! Can we see close up pics of that driver's side window? Did you make your own lexan windows?
