Lets see if this gives SpeedSource a better shot at competing with the Pontiacs.

It was great to see SpeedSource back in the winner's circle. This time it was a Porsche that screwed #70's day. Snakebit is an understatement. The RX8 ran great and was great to see Segal pass the Pontiacs on the straight.

IIRC it was the Sun Trust car the hit Sylvain and Nick's car....it took the crew about two hours to repair the entire front end, suspension, radiator and brake duct work. I was in the paddock assisting the guys with getting the body work back on the car.
Weight or no weight, per Leighton Reese and Paul Edwards, they had nothing for the #69 car. There was a Porsche the took the #40 car out on the 1st lap of the race and they had to patch together the entire left side of the car and try to rebuild a damaged shock as well, as they had no spares available.
Racers Edge was very competitive, but they had mechanical issues and fell back, but all of the cars were very strong early, especially the #69 car.
The #70 had to start last and they had to continually work on the body work, as some of the panels were rubbing the tires. Also, the RX-8's have been having issues with the Pirelli tires and the RX-8 teams have been having servo problem s with powersteering, as it goes away, so most of the race, they do not have power steering.
I think that the Porsche's will be looking for a little compensation @ Mid-Ohio, curious to see how it shakes out!

I love the Glen. Great place to watch a race except it looked very hot for this time of the year. I did see the 40 get taken out due to what they said was Spongy Brakes, but the commentators had little mercey for that as an experienced driver should have know better to go that deep in the turn. It would have been intreesting to see how the 70 had done without getting creamed in the qualifying run. It could have been one-two Mazda.

I agree. Anyone who has a chance to go to an event should let Marlon know and go to one. It is an awesome time. Thanks again Marlon for a great time at the Glen!

You should come out to an event, there is a Mazda Corral @ Mid-Ohio, where you will complete access to the teams and drivers. You will have access, that the general public does not get, a tour of the SpeedSource hauler, one on with Sylvain, Nick, David, Jeff, Nick L and the entire team, the same goes for the Hyper Sport and Racers Edge team as well......
