I don't know that you would need upgraded hoses unless you are having durability issues with the oem ones, or are running some other weird type of setup.

I would recommend that everyone check there OEM hoses if their car is over 2 years old

Mine lower hoses were thinned and bulging....a problem waiting to happen for sure

I got a set of Silicone hoses from E-bay....

Seemed good quality...and they were inexpensive

That's a good question.
I have the Agency Power, but they are overpriced and only have two of the three sections.
I ended up getting a new OE piece for the upper rear hose.

I have the koyo rad and I have never been over 210F......I have the prosport water guage and its off by about 5F.....so 215 I suppose. The temps aren't that hot here yet but I was at the track 2 weeks ago and my temp never got above 215F according to the gauge. Ambient temp was about 75 - 80F. I willl remove the old air box tray and see what happens....also, this thread gives me a great excuse to tell my wife I need a vented hood

Probably had a bunch in a bin somewhere and was cutting costs.
everything pre FD is .9. then the FD came with a 1.3 cap, and they changed it
to .9 as part of the cooling system recall.

the the change to 1.1 started in the late 90's, now like you say everything but the rx8 has it.

dunno why the 8 has a .9, didnt get that memo

ok did track--max ambient temps 89, humidity close to 90%(rained just a little)
running the car pretty hard-- maybe 8/10 at the hardest, i got no more than 215 coolant temp and oil of 200. intake air temp to 151F at one time but cooled off easily with a little recovery period. I get down on power above 145.
I run the pettit s.c. with a/w intercooler. i am moving approx 295grams of air through the maf. All in all--very satisfied. car seemed solid.

Maybe they're letting the coolant vent just a little bit earlier to try to reduce the temperature that the hoses see? Perhaps they're worried about heat degradation of the hoses, which was a concern with FDs. Just a thought...

Ray---I am thinking of moving the heat exchanger to a more vertical position and reversing the in/out hoses to see if that will help with loosing prime. Its crazy!!
After that I am looking at a shroud and fan set up and a timer for the water pump to combat the heat soak after parking.

Lemme know how it goes on both counts. I didn't have that priming problem with Phil's unit but ya never know.......
If you decide the I/C isn't doing what you had hoped, PM me and I shall engage BHR's famous warranty.

how many laps/minutes did you run per session, and at what rpm did you shift?

run for approx 20-25 mins--thats approx 15 laps or so?, highest speed approx 138 lowest approx 65. i am shifting anywhere between 6.8K and 7.2K That flat torque curve on the s.c. is great. I am also running 4/5/6 gears only(on 17" tires)--speeds are corrected.
more to come in regard to intercoolers.

It seems the BHR intercooler isn't working so swell on OD's car and I am suspending further sales of units until I can decide what I want to do with that product. works great on Phil's car and not so much on Denny's.

It's odd that it seems to work on Phil's car but not Denny's. If anything, it should have been the opposite. I was there for both installs so there was no problem with user-error. It's all part of the development process.

Ray, is there a way that you can modify your radiator for a v-mount application?

I can have one built to your custom specs on a special order but I am not going to mass-produce them. Isn't the RX rad already a V-mount rad anyway?
