Thanks guys! I am thrilled with finishing 2nd. With an actual tune for next year hopefully i'll be able to find some much needed power to help me on the always power happy East course! The car was suited great for the West course this year, even though it was such a boring course, and the car was pushy going into both of the pinchy sections, the time was there.

And thanks Ken! I was rooting for ya in GS!

Running while it was cool out my tires didnt pick up nearly as much as they did last year. I took them off the car after Thursday but only really needed to take the power tool to one of the tires to clean them off.

Nice job Mike... hopefully more people will see that the RX-8 is competitive and the class will start to grow. Would be great to get more of you guys at ProSolos too, we made a class at most of the east coast events this year but I'm not sure we'll have the same BMW folks coming back next year.

My offseason has already begun, and I'm stocking up on throttle cables so I don't have a repeat of this year. :P

Guys, I'm likely out of DSP for the forseeable future until i'm in a better position to develop the car. I'll be running it locally in STX as I was before. Good luck to everyone!

I'm feeling the $$$ burning in my pocket already...

Wheel options:

the Enkei PF01 10.5's are 22.5 lbs and considerably more expensive, not sure that's worth the extra .5" over forgestars. I have less than 10 days to waffle so i can get that rebate though.

I'm curious where the setups have progressed to. Marc was at 560# rear with some bar once upon a time, but also has the build post at 670 with no rear bar.

I'm considering keeping my smaller CS bar (27mm hotchkis), 750# front, Progress rear bar (19mm, two hole), 550# rear to start, and figure out my double-adjustable shock options (MCS?).

Power adders later when I decide to hate money even more...

I think you're on the right track regarding spring rates.

My plan was to use 14/10 which is 784/560 so pretty close to the same frequency. I would think it best to use no rear bar so you get plenty of droop and will help avoid rear wheel spin on corner exit.

Then again I get told I'm wrong a lot so consider this only as the fallicious rantings of a buffoon.

Sorry to see your out Nathan. Don't allow a limited prep level to discourage you. It's still fun and your building seat time.

My build is finally starting to make progress. The car lives! Completely bone stock but at least it runs now. I will begin tearing into the suspension over the next few months and hope to have a 1/2 prepped car in time for Dixie...

I think the Penske setup I've worked on with Anze is a no brainer when you look at the value you're getting.

I second that one. Worth every penny and I would do it again in a heart beat! You'll save money and frustration just doing it right the first time... Jeff Hurst and Anze did an amazing setup for my car.

Just trying to inspire others to go the extra 1/2"-

Taken while on my way to winning local DSP trophy last season (nothing like nationals level competition).

I keep looking and I can't seem to find any race weights for DSP.

I think Team mentioned a goal of 2650. If I'm not mistaken Marc was closer to 2750. Is that about right for a full build?

No takers on the weight question I see...

@TeamRX8
I stumbled on that miatacage spline adapter myself and promptly ordered one then on rereading this thread saw your post about having to machine it to fit. Approximately how much did yo need to take off? I don't have it in my grubby palms yet, what issue did you foresee with DSC integration?

On that note, I have yet to find a way to disable DSC without losing ABS. Can anybody point me in a helpful direction?

Edit: best method I have found is wire in a toggle switch to disable DSC on startup, like you pushed the button. This is more of a hack than true disable. I think when I get around to tuning and/or a standalone it can/will be disabled but that is for later in the year... /edit

It's looking more and more like I will be ready for Dixie. If it is on the calendar, haven't seen the 2017 schedule yet.

I don't think i saw any posts yet on what you're doing for setup. What are you going with for your DSP build?

I'm hoping to decide on what to actually buy for the winter thaw out part of the build soon, possibly header/exhaust only and not touch tuning. Just do cooling fan control for now for a touch of reliability, and just focus on suspension.

Your right, I haven't talked about my build here. Mostly because it was severely delayed this year. So...

I'm not getting into power stuff just yet. Trying to get the suspension and aero stuff done for the beginning of the season. I'm doing a quick disconnect wheel with extension, a seat and harnesses inside. I haven't decided on what I'm doing harness related yet, seat is a custom kirkey [cause I'm BIG ].

I'm in the process of replacing the bushings in the rear with delrin, deciding on exactly which front bar I'm getting. I'm planning to replace the front UCA bushings with delrin as well, I thought about the lower but have I been told that if you do both you have binding issues.

Working with a company on shocks/spring setup to compliment.

I'm leaning towards 11" with 315 not 100% yet.

Then there is all the little detail stuff that needs to be done, A/C, radio, etc.

Oh and figuring out which numbers are taken...

Even if my car makes it to the 2740 Marc had on his page car and driver will be heavier than you and yours. I don't build super light cars because I negate that, at the same time I'm not looking to use the heaviest parts available.

My "big guy" seat might be a kirkey where I've kicked the sides until it bends enough for me to fit Definitely the nice part of the aluminum seating... Though it has too much lean, so I might start fresh. I'd also like to mount it with less weight than what i did last time

Is anyone doing funky intake builds? There's Sipe's secret intake, and I believe Marc Monnar did a little TB porting, by didn't actually touch the manifolds besides port matching the LIM and block.

The only other I have seen is teamrx8. He was modifying the upper intake and port matching. I'm not sure I would call that funky though.

I have been thinking about it but haven't started anything yet.

Also blocked off the injectors, as if he were doing a carb.

He is running a stand alone engine management and I think just using 2 injectors. I am looking at changing to 4 myself. Haven't really begun to dig into that mess yet.

Mike, how did you do your harnesses? Just to the package shelf?
