However, not all clubs require the full gamut of safety gear like John mentioned. One such in the north east is ComSCC (http://www.comscc.com). Tracks they go to include NHIS, Lime Rock (this weekend), Mosport, Tremblant, & VIR. For their stock class the safety items are recommended, but not required to partake in the Solo-I.... with the exception of the SA helmet... that *is* required.

My wife is running our '05 RX8 car in BStock next year, and I will be co-driving it on alternating weeks. My regular ride is still an STU car (see below), and I want to stick with it for a bit to see if we can sort it out enough to be competitive on BOTH days at Nationals next year. REALLY like the STU class and want to support it. Don't think the power potential is there for the RX8 int his class, tho...

Once I get V710s and lose my "winnebago sway bar" I'll be ready to put the smack down on ULLLOSE next year.
Seriously though, been running down here in the SD region for almost 2 years. Haven't done any national stuff, but I plan on being at the 06 tour.

14.10.D:
The engine management system parameters and operation may be modified only via the methods listed below. Any and all modifications must meet or exceed the applicable US DOT emissions standards for the year, make, and model of the car. These allowances also apply to forced induction cars, except that no changes to standard boost levels, intercoolers, or boost controls are permitted. Boost changes indirectly resulting from allowed modifications are permissible, but directly altering or modifying the boost or turbo controls, either mechanically or electronically, is strictly prohibited.
2. Electronic components may be installed in-line between an engines sensors and ECU. These components may alter the signal coming from the sensor in order to affect the ECUs operation of engine management system. Example: fuel controllers that modify the signal coming from an airflow sensor.

a signal modifier on the incoming PCM signal side is not considered to be a piggyback and it won't be effective since this factory PCM will simply adjust itself to get the final parameters back to the OE configuration, there are tons of posts about the situation on this forum
you either have to control the outbound signals or modify the PCM internally to get the outbound control. Only the internal mod is presently legal with regard to all the systems I'm presently aware of (that actually work).
If you know of something that actually works i.e., 220+ rwhp in tricked out STU trim, and think is legal let's see it.

Thanks for the link.
Actually this is what I got when I searched for 'single AND exhaust': https://www.rx8club.com/search.php?searchid=1037890.

Here in New England, our two sites have sound requirements. 92db at 50 feet at NHIS and 90db at 75 feet at Ft Devens (North East National Tour location)
The muffler passes sound in the high 80s at both locations. Straight pipe got 92 at 75 feet (Devens).
Places where there's no worry about sound... all a straight pipe does is drop weight. (Handy at nationals)

and mine

I had a straight pipe on mine before this, on the street it's like someone is taking a high frequency drill to you ear drums, it got to where it drove me nuts even with a helmet on, and that was with it out the back, a turndown would be even worse inside the car, the sound hits the ground and reverberates right back into the interior, I had a Z06 with catback turndowns, it was murder, I always put it out the back or passenger side now
