I'd rather have both tips. Although i dont really care how the car will look after mods ( it already looks GREAT), i think having 1 tip when there is room for 2 is just ugly. Unless the exhaust will weigh only 1 LB... hehe

I agree, that is why I would rather keep my current RB exhaust (& the extra weight) or eventually go to the JIC titanium. Just putting it out there as there are some people that no matter how ugly it looks, they want to save weight & increase hp.

Why not go with this one? 13 pounds is quite a bit lighter without going to titanium. Get the rp supercat and you are 24 pounds lighter than stock exhaust and cat. Thats not bad at all. And you can get both the Cork and cat for 300 less than just the JIC titanium.

Well, I just don't consider the rx8 a "race car" personally, but yes if you're racing it then it really wont matter much.

I heard & saw the cork sport this past weekend at Mazfest. The ride also had a straight thru test pipe. Loud as hell. Sounded like one of those race cars. I would say it's unstreetable to me, but they drive it everyday. Saw on their website that the cat back unit is supposed to be 24 lbs. lighter than the stock cat back unit, which would make it 15 lbs., kind've hard to believe.

This is just plain wrong to think the CS is not streetable, at least with the OEM CAT. I have the Cork Sport, and by the way it is BEAUTIFUL POLISHED SS, and it is WAY LESS LOUD than BORLA. The CS on the street can be VERY QUIET, almost like stock with a gentle touch of the throttle, but when you open her up, STILL not too loud but a NICE BRASSY THROATY WAIL.

I LOVE TO MAKE THAT WAIL, and do on regular occasion, but it is up to me the sound , which I like. I go home in my own street and I am quiet as a mouse. :D

As an example, at the last track session my friend and I had the same instructor, so I asked about the relative loudness between the CS and my friend's BORLA on the track (Now the B has a hi-flow cat, but still...) The guy said " Hell - yours is a NICE sound, we can talk and it's NOTHING compared to the BORLA, I coundn't even hear him talk to me (on the helmet intercom)!!, laughing.

Not doubting it, just the one I heard was LOUD. Probably had a lot to do with the midpipe/test pipe. I have heard RB & Greddy with test pipes & they weren't that loud. Maybe it was just the way the CS exhaust interacted with the TP.

Although you will gain performance by means of reducing weight by going with Titanium, wouldn't you throw off the balance of the weight distribution of this car? We're talking about shaving almost 20+lbs. off. Would you prefer balance or power? However, I think most autocrossers would opt to go with moving the battery to the trunk to offset the change in weight distrubution.

Actually, wouldn't having a 200-lb DRIVER in the front seat ruin the mystical fifty-fifty weight distribution way more than having a cat-back exhaust that's ten or fifteen pounds lighter than normal?

It was on RX-tasy's car over at Mazfest. Sweet looking car, but just way too loud for me. But then again I think the RB exhaust by itself is perfect & the Greddy is too loud, so that tells you where I am on the sound level meter.

actually mazda quoted the "near 50/50 weight distribution" included a driver. Yeah I doubt the exhaust is going to do much, lowering overall weight is always good from a performance standpoint.

putting an 8 on a scale with individual readings for every wheel, showed that with a driver sitting inside,more of the extra weight went to the back axle of the car. with about half tank and empty seats it was a 51.5%-48.5% front-rear distribusion. with the driver it was closer to 51%-49%

Stock system (w/ c-pipe) = 39 lbs

RB muffler (42 lbs) + C-pipe (7 lbs) = 49 lbs
