The old Altamont Raceway Park just got some new ownership and they just opened their new road course. it's a very short 1.1 miles and incorporates some of the existing 1/2 mile oval. Not very fast, pretty much all cornering....think 'oversized AutoX track'. I went down there yesterday to watch the open practice day. Probably won't produce great W2W racing, but should be fun for club events and learning car control. and it's only 9 miles from my house! unfortunately no HPDE dates on their calendar yet...hopefully some of the local clubs start booking dates soon.
something like this so closeby makes me want to keep the new RX8 on the street and pick up an old Miata track *****
