New racer needing help

I just went to the races at Qualcom stadium and am hooked. I've previously bought a RX-8 and am wondering what I need to do to get it srace ready. Do I need to change the suspension, brakes, exhaust. I've looked at turbo, or is NOS better. I need BIG help. Anyone out there who can help please give me all the info you can.

Before this question can be answered, what kind of raceing are you going to do? What organiseation are you racing with and what class? Not all mods are legal depending on what were you race.

At 18, and never been 'racing' before this, you'd be wise to use your car as it is until you have a bit of experience under your belt in whatever you consider 'racing'. Then instead of asking us, YOU can decide by asking informed questions from your own experience what your car needs to make it perform better for you. You could also read some of the millions of words of advice already on the forum for owners like yourself

BTW, the car is 'race ready' as you bought it and you do not 'need' to do anything to it. Although it may not be as competitive as you might want, you'll certainly have little problem enjoying yourself and put a big grin on you face with no HELP or expense at al!

Be safe and enjoy

Since you were at Qualcomm my quess would be that you went Autocrossing.

the RX-8 does very well in BS class. Jason Isley is a National champion in an RX-8 he regularly runs Qualcomm and evem comes out here in Fonatana every now and then to whoop on us all.
in that case you would need some race tires. no if's and's or butts about it. struts of course would help. thats about all you can do in that class.

I run in BSP take a look at my siggy for the stuf fthat I have done to my car.

if you wanted to stay on "street" tires then you would want to run in STU, but I will warn you that you will get spanked on unles you get some 9.5" wide wheels and sone REAL street tires. then you MIGHT have a chance. (take a look at teamRX8's car to see a very well preped STU RX-8.)

If your not running autocross then disregaurd everything I said above.

If you are talking about Auto Crossing, you might be interested in this thread https://www.rx8club.com/west-rx-8-forum-34/so-cal-auto-cross-thread-sponsored-san-bernardino-meet-rotorlution-racing-91814/ as it is a place for us So Cal guys to talk autocross.

I am Sure Jason Isley (ULLLOSE) will be talking on here sometime. he usually catches all the autocross questions before I do.

The other guys covered this pretty well. I will just add that for the most part you will never be allowed to run, in some places even enter the site, with a NOS system in your car. SCCA does not allow them and some clubs will ask you to leave if you have one in the car. Not sure why they fear it but that is just how it is.

Are you going to be in SD this weekend? MP5, aka Jason M, and myself will be there in the AM to run B Stock. Then going to haul @ss up to Fontana to lay some smack down on the BSP RX8s in the afternoon.

Not sure if MP5 is doing both.....

Years ago when I lived in AZ we set up a course on sat for a sun Corvette club event. I brought our Miata to test the course out, set up for CS with R tires and all the goodies, it also had a 50 shot of NOS. I did a few runs in it with the bottle on, non SCCA event you can get away with a lot, the next day in my Vette I could not beat the time I did in the Miata on the bottle.
