My First AutoX

I was invited out to the Capital Driving Club AutoX this weekend and it was a ton of fun! It was my first time racing or auto-x'ing
Every run I got a little better and I actually beat a lot of people that had been racing for a season or two and a few newbies in WRXs. I was the only 8 but there was an RX-7. There were a ton of miatas, a MSP3, and a MSP6. I beat the times of the guy in the mazda speed 3 which was cool too.

Here is a vid of my 4th run. Just wanted to share since I got a few tips here before I raced.

Looking forward to spending more time in this part of the forum

I've never seen my car in motion before so that was really cool too getting videos of it.

I really like the white on the track too

These were the cars I beat in order.

Impreza
A8
Shelby
S2000
Civic
Cooper
Miata
Cooper GP
Sprite
WRX
Cooper
Boxster
Viper

I had my DSC on. I think I'll shave a lot of time off next time doing the long 7 sec hold over the one push. I have to miss this weekend because of a hockey game which stinks. So it looks like it will be a few more weeks before i get to race again.

Glad you had a good time. If you really enjoyed it, though, I'd get away from CDC events as quickly as I could and step up to events hosted by other clubs (like WDCR-SCCA, Autocrossers Inc., NCC-BMWCCA, and even Philly-SCCA) at FedEx Field in Landover and Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen. The lots are much bigger/better, even the worst courses at those sites are much better than what can fit at Harry Grove (or the high school in Manassas where they also host a number of events...and the Bowie site has its own issues).

The competition at the WDCR/AI/Philly events (and sometimes the NCC events) is at a much higher level and they provide much better opportunities to learn more and learn it faster than you'll get at CDC events.
