Dude, you just missed one today. It's not SCCA, but it's run by some very cool people and it's a good place to start out. I just made my first run today and I was the only RX-8 out of six groups. Don't leave me hanging, come on out for next month's run. It's dirt cheap for the opportunity that you get.

I believe that's going to put you in the Prepared Class with some beastly cars. Good luck.

I'm sticking with B Stock, very few mods are allowed so it comes down to driver skill more than car set up.

Here's the schedule:

SFR SCCA is hosting an autocross school 6/21 at Candlestick (Monster). If your car is ready, that would be my suggestion for a good place to start...

See the SFR link given above, go to events calendar.

...on the other hand, I know (very personally) at least one person who took down a reigning National Champ in their first year, at their first Tour...so, you just never can tell

true, but they didn't start out by throwing an aftermarket turbo kit on a factory stock car

Agreed...that's not a good combo, either for learning or favorable classing

I ran a "spec class" with a car that needed, literally, no set up...as a matter of fact, as soon as I "set it up", I went backwards!!
