First 1/4 mile time

Well here it is my first and ony 1/4 mile time, I only had a chance to do a single pass.

So here is my debrief:

- Just under 3/4 of a tank of fuel (94 octane)
- Tires, Toyo Proxies
- Redline MT 90 in tranny
- RP Maxgear in the diff
- Zex 55 shot
- RB Revi and Ram intake
- RB Lightened flywheel
- MSD 9.5mm plug wires

I decided to drive around the water and not do any sort of burn out. I'm number 216 running in the right lane.
My competition number 217 running in the left lane a 2007 SRT8 300 driven by my Father.

- Oh yeah and my R/T is was **** so be gentle, I know I know I know, I suck.

Here are some pics:

Time slip:

I would have liked to have seen 13's as well. However for my first run ever, I was quite happy.
Next time I'm going to try and arrive with less fuel and:
- I'll have a RP Supercat install and
- MM Tuned Cobb AP and
- New set of Sways installed

Hopefully this will help.

So from what I can tell the time isn't that bad but really I should have been able to pull off at least a 13.9
Right?

You could hit 13's easy. Practice makes perfect.

That is basicly the same time slip I got last weekend.

The best I could do was 14.2 @ 97mph with 1.9sec 60ft.

Geesssh the more I look at this the worse I feel,
However it does make me want to try again!

I'm really hoping that moving away from the stock exhaust and stock suspension well help.
And of course some more practice!!!

I am running a stock exhaust. You just need to practice. The Rx8 is not the easiest car to drag.

Edited that one for you.

haha i'm gonna get some heat for this probably....but....

So far i've only autocrossed an RX-8, and it is a fricken blast! so much fun, i'd love to take it on a road course and fly with it. but driving it to and from the owners house is has told me that going in a straight line is not at all what this car is made for. when you need to get that next lane from the light and you look over and see a regular cobalt and go...hmmm that could take me, and you ponder backing down, then you know it's not gonna be all that great. look at the work people are doing to get a 14 or 13 second pass.

anyways have fun, but i'd suggest taking the car to a performance drivers course, or hit up a local autocross school or event. the adrenalin rush will kick the pants off the drag strip with this car!

or put a small block in it...then it'd be a drag car.

I just can't believe that you sprayed throughout and trapped only 1 mph higher than I've seen stock rx8s run. That is unreal.

The greddy kit trapping 97 with all the extra work done is even more concerning to me however.

That is curious Red, where did you see those trap times?
The stock 8 times I've seen have been in the 15's

I think we have to honest testiamolials right here that show the 8 needs a lot to get into the 13's.
It is funny that we both trapped 97mph and we both drive white RX8's ...mmmm?

Honestly I believe it's only a matter of some practice.
A trap time of 105mph would be nice.

polak in a bone GT stock 8 trapped 95.8 mph and ran a 14.5 his first time at the track. Most others are trapping from 91-94 bone stock in which case yours is definitely quicker. I'm just surprised that you only trap that low even with all the work you have done. I watched an AP2 trap 99 bone stock at the track last week. Just a bit disappointing to me that you didn't trap higher. There's always next time I suppose!

I'm going to track mine today, hopefully with some videos and pictures. I'll keep ya guys filled in on how this goes for me.

i did 14.48 @ 93mph, stock. toyo proxes t1-r tires. according to CRH, a 55 shot should be good for about .8-.9 seconds. that'd put me at 13.5ish. exhaust, lightweight flywheel and rims, i figure low 13s should be attainable in this car n/a.

95.8 trap speed? stock? how? too bad polak isnt around anymore.

what should be attainable and what actually happens with this car never seems to be the same thing ......
