fine tuning with Koni's

Just installed Koni's. rears set at 50/50. stock sway bar, 710's, alignment this Friday to set to 1.5 front camber (if I can get there), slight positive toe,( I like the way it turns in) rear is already at 1.5 camber with slight neg toe. So now I can tune with more than tire pressure. If I start with 50/50 front shocks, how will changing settings affect handling characteristics? what is rule of thumb? BTW, had to cancel plans for Dixie. Looks like a great turnout hate to miss it but will be in Atlanta for next round in South.

I'm going to guess, even if you run the fronts very soft, that you will have much more understeer than you might want. The reason I say that is that my car, even with zero rear toe, -1.9 camber rear (-1.7 front) and the rear Konis at full stiff (aka the ULLLOSE set up), is not at all loose...as a matter of fact, if anything, it has a bit of off corner push, under certain circumstances. Even with a lower rear camber value you're running, I'd bet the softer rebound and rear toe in are going to give too much bias to rear grip.
I have driven a car (two weekends ago) with the rear shocks set at half stiff/fronts full stiff, stock bar etc. and it felt good, but the rear toe was at zero and it was also on a drying/wet course, so the softer rear shock was probably a good thing.
But, I'm also the guy that thinks the RX8 is pretty insensitive to set up changes, at the margin, so what do I know...we've gone fast with "too big" of fsb, "too low" of tire pressures, the rear shocks set "too stiff", "too big" of tires etc. etc.

Thanks Mike, thats good information. I guess I'll '0' out the rear toe, maybe get a bit more front camber and see what happens. I'm guessing softing the front will increase grip in the front. Nothing I can do about the rear shocks right now. BTW, Mike, Co drive offer still stands. Can't be in Dixie but will be going to Atlanta National. Should have fresh 710's by then. Maybe a sway bar as well. Car PAX's top 10 locally w/o the Koni's.

Thanks for the continued c0-drive offer. The way things are right now, work wise, I may not even make it to SD...I have a lot on the plate...so, Atlanta might be just a dream...but, man, I'd love to go run back there with you guys!

Also, please take my "guesstimate" as just that...I'd wait for some of the more knowledgeable folks on this board to chime in before making any initial set up decisions!
