a few questions and concerns for being stock
a few questions and concerns for being stock
wondering if the following will void me from qualifying for stock
mazdaspeed front bumper, painted rims, racing beat cooler screens, mid pipe, AP tune, removing of screens in stock intake, and custom car work (cutting out hole in back seat for subs, of course ill remove the subs when competing)
im not sure on the midpipe, ap(accessport), and removing of intake screens.
but im pretty sure the bumper, and rims wouldn't matter, and im just making sure. thank you all!

The hole in the seat is questionable... There are some allowances for comfort items like audio, it would depend on what you do.
The mods you are looking at would be ok in STU, if your mid-pipe has a cat. If you run cutless you are in SM.
Bumper, mid-pipe, AP tune, intake mod are all illegal.

i've done some researching, and just still want to prep my car to have the biggest advantage for still being eligible for being stock
same dimension rims as stock, but lighter
new ignition wires
new fluids
better flowing air filter, and removal of screen (i checked you can take out air filter elements, just dont touch the plumbing)
more free flowing exhaust, but im reading up on places saying i can't touch the cat, and other saying i can, but it still has to have 1 (e.g. rp supercat)
and injectors
anything else i can get you guys?
less acronyms please :D

^Tires and shocks are probably the most important mod in B stock. If you are a serious competitor then you'll need some racing slicks, Check out Hoosier and Kumho's. Or you can get a very grippy street tire, such as the Falken Azenis RT-615. Popular shocks for B Stock are the Koni Yellow's.
my dad says one of his business partners works for nitto and can get me their competition tires for really cheap, in simplest terms, what all can i do to give me the biggest advantage? i have that small list, anything else to add? and shocks are a big thing too, i forgot about that, i'll look into the konis
^Honestly seat time will give you the biggest advantage. You can have a Front sway bar, Racing slicks, and some Koni's (Probably the 3 most common things for B Stock) and you can get your *** handed to you by someone who has much more experience, and is only driving on street tires. The more you AutoX, or do HPDE events, the better of a driver you will become. By getting everything at once, you won't really see how much of an advantage each individual part gives you. Also, people say that it's sometimes better to start on a not so grippy tire, because it will show your mistakes alot easier, rather than just covering them up.
Your list of mods in Stock should be alignment, tires, and shocks (in that order). However, autocrossing is a skill, and a good driver in an underprepared car will beat a novice in a fully prepared car every time.
So, instead of spending money on go fast parts right now, spend it on seat time, seat time, seat time. When you think you're getting 100% out of the car and you need to throw money at it, let one of your local hotshoes drive it. He/she will show you quite quickly that you still have much to learn.

thank you all!!!!!! that clears up almost all of my questions, and yeah yeah i know seat time. thats what everyone says :P i guess ppl feel free to throw any questions on here i'd like to hear em, and i'd like to here the answers we get!!!! gl every and thanks!
as for my last exhaust question, since i can only modify after the cat, wouldnt the biggest advantage come from, no muffler, deleting the muffler and replacing with a clear straight pipe? light and free flowing.

like what topgear said... take a day to auto-x, then add a suspension piece. Then go to another auto-x event... then add another suspension part etc until you find the right balance for you.

You can replace/remove your drop in air filter element. There is no allowance for any modifications to the air-box or any part of the intake system, removing the screens would be a modification to the air-box.
There is no allowance for a high-flow cat.
There is no allowance for aftermarket fuel injectors.
Improve the driver and none of this trivial stuff will matter.
