So, who is all going to the Pro? It looks like they opened up the wait list and let them in.

It should be a good time, we Usualy bring a Keg with us. I just have to find somebody else to haul it for me this year.

A few of our local autox club are going. I'm not good enough yet (have 5 events under my belt) but hopefully next year I'll be there too

Hopefully you can make it. I think I speak for most in that competition is a good thing.

I'm hoping it doesn't end up being a T&T for me and that I can most of the tuning out of the way this weekend. I'm sure Simmons won't mind though if it does happen to be case.

You better figure the car out Before the Pro, otherwise it will be hard for me to sleep in the hotel with you Crying all night

Nonsense. There is no such thing as "not good enough to compete in National-level events). The best way to improve is to compete against the best drivers.

Not to mention that the Pro format is roughly 100 times more fun than the standard autox format.

Care to elaborate? I have kept myself in my region's street tire stock class because I didn't think it would be worth spending money on tires/STX parts unless I was winning my region. Thanks.

We have a very nice lot here at NORA. Courses are on average 85 seconds long and from what I've seen on YouTube at other regions, a lot more technical. Last event I was 6 seconds slower than a pro driven, fully prepped rx-8. 86 vs 80 seconds. That to me for my experience level was good. My car is on koni's/s-tech and rpf-1/star spec for the first time last event. Before I go to a pro event I want to get more experience, more consistent and more knowledgeable about tuning the suspension and tire pressures. This year I'm learning as much as possible and getting the most seat time my schedule will allow. if by the end of the year I've improved like I hope I will, you'll see me next year at some pro events

In for getting shot. I know there is a group of us that are planning a pickup hockey game after runs are completed on Saturday, and judging by the conversations, I think alcohol may be a prerequisite for the game.

I wonder if the ice cream truck with bars on the windows will be there again

To clarify: Pro Solo is a specific format, not a class of competitor. A Pro format features two mirror courses set up side by side. A car lines up at each start line, which features a drag-style start with a Christmas tree. The timer starts when the light turns green. You take all of your runs right in a row...no going back to grid or really even getting out of the car. For example, run on the left side, cross the finish, get in line for the right side. Then back in line for the left, and so on until you've got three runs on each side. You'll do that twice on Saturday and once on Sunday. Best time from each side = your total time. Then Sunday afternoon there are various elimination "challenge" rounds with handicaps based on PAX, so you might see an ASP Vette running against an HS MINI; the MINI will go and the Vette will sit at the line until it is given the green. First one to cross the finish wins and moves on.

Massive fun. And I pretty much get my *** kicked at every National-level event I attend. All I'm saying is not to be intimdated, or count yourself as not worthy of showing up. You run, you work, and you sit around and drink beer with everyone else at the end of the day.

blazen, you should definitely go to the Toledo Pro in July. just trust me.

Edit: National Tour events run the same as "regular" autocrosses.

The way you describe it sounds awesome lol. I've heard about the format before and it sounds like a lot of fun. I'll for sure come watch in Toledo. I might even enter and try it out. I'll have to add a trunk lid to my car fund though (have an evo wing glued and bolted on mine, I know I know not everyone likes it but I do lol) I run in SM at the club but other than the wing my car is STX legal so if I enter I'd run that way. I might just come watch though since it isn't far from me.

Oh god, I remember that. Wasn't the first time working on Jays subi at an event. Had to rebuild two heads in the parking lot at the hotel on that trip. Haha

You wouldn't happen to be the guy I was chatting with about the rx8 who was thinking about buying one that currently owned an ST Civic, would you?

If so, thanks for the miller again. Haha

Yep, that was me. It just took me until 20 cars later to buy one.

I'll elaborate:

It's not about racing. It's about life coming at you and you run at it. Because you will never know how far you can run unless you run
or you can spend the rest of your life being a milquetoast, your choice ...
