Now that the Android version of Harry's Lap Timer is supposed to be better at recording and overlaying video, I would like to try it again. My current windshield mount is pretty shaky. What are you guys liking for solidly mounting your phones for recording video? My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S5.

Right now, I am eyeballing a Ram Mount X-Grip and a mount made by Encased as possibilities. What are you guys using and liking?

 

The X-mount is not stable enough for video, been there, done that.

This is the only thing that I got to work descent, but it's only made for Apple products.

I was going to suggest a ram mount. I use one with my camera and it works well. They do have the x-grip for other phones which looks pretty stable, but I have not tried one.

 

Here's a video with the X-grip and an iPhone, as you can see the mount is terrible for video.

 

I have read a lot of negative stuff about the X-Grip when used for video. It boggles the mind that Ram doesn't make a cradle for the Galaxy.

 

Here's another mount that the Customer Service rep at Ram Mounts recommended, but I never bought it. For $17, it's worth a shot.

That looks like it might be more sturdy, but the camera would be obstructed. I might be able to drill a big hole in it depending on where the springs and other hardware are located relative to the camera.
