Is the common size for BS 245 40 18? My tires need to be streetable so it's Falkens for the time being.

 

Most folks run 245/35/18 because it's nice and short. The 245/40/18 will work.

 

Doesn't look like the Azenis comes in 245/35. 245/40 would keep you at about stock circumference...so would 275/35. Or you could try 235/40 or 265/35 if you want a little gearing advantage and don't mind having the shorter tires for everyday use (with speedo error and such).

 

I would go with 245/40/18 or 265/35/18, 275 is a little scary on a 8" wheel imo.

 

As I take it price is an issue, or you would buy the faster Yok Advan, just go with the 245 or 255 @ $150 VS $211+ for the 265/275 size 615.

 

Wow, are the advans that much better than the azenis for a street tire?? at $120+ more per tire, I might be better off picking up a used set of OEM wheels and buying some dedicated race tires

 

It's debateable.

In the long run, it will probably be less hassle to have dedicated competition wheels/tires.

 

The 255/40's are the same diameter as stock. I have a set in the garage waiting to be mounted up for street tires. For street I wanted to keep the speedo accurate.

 

Before you ask if they're that much better, you may to think about whether it matters when you're talking about running street tires in a DOT-R class. I'd go with the Azenis over the Advans if I had to run street tires in a stock class. Why spend the extra money when any improvement still won't be nearly enough?

 

Good point, Clyde. If the original poster is planning on running in B Stock, I'd suggest finding a cheap set of OEM takeoff wheels and buying V710s before I'd recommend buying Advans, which are just as expensive as the V710s yet slower. The Advans are great street tires, but they're like bringing a knife to a gun fight in a class where R compounds are allowed.

If the OP doesn't want to mess with R comps and spare wheels, then I'd just suggest the Azenis. If you have to run against any fully prepped B Stock cars, you won't really be at any more of a disadvantage with the Azenis versus the Advans, but you'll have a lot more money in your pocket.

 

Thanks for all the help. I think I'll go with the Azenis this year and learn about the car. Over the winter I can pick up some oem rims and 710's. BTW, I assume 4 extra wheels/tires can fit in the car?

 

They will fit quite easily in the back seats.
