Autox for the first time ever! : D
I will be going to an SCCA event in the EISCCA chapter this weekend. It is being held at an airport so it is a fast flowing track with no poles or anything. I look forward to having a blast but I was somewhat dissapointed that the 8 falls into the STU class as I think that evo's and sti's would most likely own it seeing as how they have roughly 70 more hp and AWD, but oh well, I look forward to having a great time and bonding with the car! Here is the area, I hope it is nice this weekend!!!! *crosses fingers* http://youtube.com/watch?v=51w7ljdghUk

This weekend will be my first auto-x weekend, but I'll make a thread of it.
I'll be in class with a low-tune 500hp evo, and a really quick supra. hp doesn't mean much on the auto-x though, so I'm relying on my fat rb sways and brake setup.
Goodluck!

I went on Saturday...missed the Sunday event. It was 39 degrees, snowed on my way there, and was dry for the first half, but wet for the second. It was slick as heck out there but was a blast. I got some tips from some veteran drivers who also had 8's and I learned alot. There were 2 other 8's and an mr2 turbo in the class. One of the 8's had full race tires but was otherwise stock, he is also an absolutely phenominal driver and had a fastest time of the day of 48.xx seconds. I had a best of 56.xx and the other 8 I believe was 53.xx. The fastest car at the event was a really sick Z06 'Vette which ran a 44.xx. It was an absolute blast and I had a super fun time. Everyone there was great and I look forward to being a better driver of my new Rx-8!!!!!

hi. i was the driver of the red 2004.
some minor corrections: i got a 52.5 on day one as my best time. i think brian's time is accurate, and he is an excellent driver: evolution school + 24th/36 in BS at nationals. his car is not stock save for the tires (245/35/18 kumho V710, for the record), but instead is done up in proper A Stock fashion: big front swaybar, single adjustable Konis, catback (turndown). also, the MR2 guy was on R comps as well, albeit RA1s.
day 2 turned out to be sunny, a bit warmer -- maybe even 50 degrees! heh -- and with a nice, fast course. fast time of the day was again the black SM2 corvette z06 at 43.0 iirc. nipping at his heels was a very quick A Stock Evo IX at 43.1, with a couple of AS corvettes at 43.4 or so. brian got a 44.5? which quite possibly was fastest PAX time of the day. i ended up with a 46.999, and the MR2 driver pulled it together on the last run for a 47.6.
i hope you make it out to future events. and pllllleeeaeaasse use two hands on the wheel

That's the problem with axing in Idaho, weather. When you have your first event of the year in May and it almost snows it makes you wonder why you live here...
Thanks for the kudos, but compared to the drivers on this forum I'm just another wannabe. It was a blast to finally get to race my new car. I look forward to racing with you guys again.
By the way, the black corvette was Gary Thomason's national champion SM2 car a few years ago. Now it's owned by a driver from Boise...

Sorry to kill your times a little. It is cool to see people on a forum like this that you have met in real life. My wife sorta got hooked on it, so I think I should be out to the Jerome meet And while you may not be the best driver ever badger....everyone out there agrees you are waaaay above average....but nothing wrong with being modest. And thanks you two for all the tips!!!! I will be sure to employ them at the next autox!!!!

There is a chance there may be an event added on June 2nd in Pocatello. I'll let you know as soon as I find out. Either way, look me up in the morning and I'll do a course walk with you and give you some tips. You missed a good day on Sun, the course was more fun and the weather was better. Shikataganai ran really fast on his street tires.

Sorry guys, I just got word that event isn't going to happen due to a conflict with scheduling the lot. I'm planning on running with the Utah region on the 28th and 2nd&3rd of June.
