RSX driver with a couple Q's for u guys
Hey whats up rx8ers... my buddy just got a rx8 and i think its a sweet *** car but i have a few Qs
1st, is the true the Rx8 is faster around a track than a E46(most recent body) M3? TOPGEAR shows that it is around their track but i want some real insight from owners...
I know the rx8 is lighter than the M which is defintally a Plus, and jap is defenitally better too...
2nd, how can you make the rx8 faster without FI (or a 13B swap )??? ive heard NA mods dont do **** and even a turbo doesnt do great....
BTW i will update what happens when i run my friends rx8 (04, 6 speed, mint condition, low low miles) vs me (2005 RSX type-S, Cold air intake) i think imma

not much you can do to get more power out of the renesis without going FI. It's very quick on a track (course). And a turbo can do great, look at Mazsports. And if you mean a straight line race when you say, "run" expect to win if your friend can't get a good launch - the 8 isn't the fastest in a line. Have your buddy do some local auto-xing, and he'll probably whoop your *** in times. But then again, it all comes down to skill as well.

I'll address the M3 question. The RX-8 might be able to keep up with a E46 M3 on certain tracks. However, in most circumstances with the same drive an E46 M3 is going to turn better lap times than an RX-8 on a real track, autox the RX-8 has the advantage. In short, the M3 just didn't have a very good day when Top Gear tested it.
When you run your friend, you'll probably find that you're pretty damn even. If he's a really good driver he'll get you off the line due to RWD and then it'll stay about an even distance after that. From a roll you should stay roughly even as well, unle4ss of course if you're in 3rd gear and Vtec kicks in, then of course the RSX can't lose!!!!1!1!!one!

ya i know on a straight the m3 will pull on the rx8, hell it has 100 HP more, it should,, but im talking purely handling ( lateral Gs, balanance, is it nuetral, braking)... does the 8 really have the upper hand? i think it should...
and to the guy with the troll remark....uhh im not trolling at all man
plsu the rx8 is really easy to drive at the limit i hear... which is not true for the M.. correct?

If the RX8 is rated at 232 HP and a stock 1/4 mile in the high 14's, how is that overrated?
The term overrated refers to a false advertisement or statement that can not be substantiated by proof. Make sense? It might be underpowered, or a poor drag car, or a suboptimal straight line street racer... but not overrated.

Rx-8 will be hard pressed to beat an M3 on a road course even such as top gears, but it does have a chance.
With alot of money and smart NA modifications you can get the car to dyno 215-225rwhp without any detriment to the engine/drivetrain, more if you consider porting.
Take it to an auto-x/track who cares how fast the car is when you press down your right foot hard as you can.
Btw play nice, phantom this was ultimately your instigation.

Overrating is when a car is rated at 232 hp and it has 175 whp....
and didnt they lower that ratting from 250 ish?? so ya, i mean i love the car its awsome, but do you really think you have >25% drivetrain loss?? nope, its overrating
Then leave and dont waste more time by posting

I wish I could do mid 14's, that would be soooooo sweet!

There's debate over the dyno numbers, too. First off, it's rear-wheel drive, so expect bigger losses than your little FWD shopping cart. Second, the 8 has a very touchy and complicated ECU, so no one's really sure if it holds back on a dyno or not. It's possible it limits power while the front wheels are stationary.
So next time you're going to be annoying, at least do it with good info.

we dont live in japan do we? dont be retard, its rated at 232 hp so stfu...and even a RWD doesnt have 25%drivetrain loss....mm kay?
See, now you're trolling, and you don't even have your facts right. The RX-8 was, and still is, rated at 250 in japan. US emissions requirements lowered that figure to 238, then revised SAE rating lowered that to 232. Several magazines have achieved 14.4 in the quarter with the 8, and while it is difficult to do, several people on here have gotten it too.

haha and it seems like you guys are really insecure with what mazda did with the car and its power... damn i came in here with a legit question about the rx8 vs a m3 on a road course and people got their panties in a bunch...
good luck with ur car man, you'll need it

back on topic, it will depend on the track given the same driver. I've driven both cars and the m3 felt heavy at tight circuits while the rx8 is nimbler handling like the s2000. So on tracks that have less tight turns and more sweeping ones the m3's extra power will just pull away.
But for my money, I'd rather get an M Coupe.

Yeah, that was kind of my point when I was talking about the ECU on the dyno. Do you ever pay attention? Go run your RSX in the garage with the door closed.
