14.03 @ 99.52

Great night for drag racing at 51 degrees. 2 other rx8s showed up a stock one and rote8 in his pettit supercharged 8 but couldn't make a pass because of his problem with the methanol injection.

mods
racing beat intake+duct
obx headers
turboxs race pipe & catback
act prolite flywheel
mazsport ignition upgrade
fd 5-speed trans

I was the stock rx8. Pulled a 15.03 at 92.06 mph. My tires are bald and I was spinning all through first and second. When you guys run do you have dsc on or off?

Seriously???

I would think that 13's would be very doable with just bolt ons, gears, suspension and tires...but, I've never tried, so I might be talking out of an orifice other than my mouth...

what's scary is that with a slightly quicker R/T.. it would have been even better.

OK...that's the "missing link"...when I first looked at the modifications to your car and your trap speed, that's what got me thinking that you should be in the 13's, no problem. But, the tires (and the 60' time) explains it all. Given that you're nearly 100mph in trap speed, with your launch and suspension (shocks, disconnected front sway bar etc.) optimized, you could go as quick as 13.6-13.7, based on normally used ET formulas (that's ASSuming that your RX8 is right at 3100lbs with you in it). What is also kind of interesting is that using the same equation, it would give your horsepower at right around 240 at the crank...which makes me think that the '8 doesn't make the factory rating, stock, as your car is obviously much stronger than a stock RX8.

did you account for the different ratios on the 5sp?

No. I just used the "old school" formula for calculating hp from trap speed and then backed into the "potential" ET...it isn't 100% accurate, by any means, but is a tried and true means of estimation and gives good information.

i keep telling everyone that headers, intake+rb duct, full turbo xs exhaust give some serious horsepower gains. does anyone believe me? nooooo. well now maybe you guys will.

and lol chance, no im not pissed. he has the 5 speed fd tranny. the nice thing about that tranny is that you dont have to shift into 4th right at the end of the 1/4 mile. i trapped 97mph, had i not had to shift to 4th, 99mph is totally plausible. believe me, i looked at that transmission when mazsport had their direct drop in rebuilt fd tranny. it only cost $3000. :/ mazsport posted a 14.3 with their fd tranny (and a 2.1 60' i think) a long time ago. oh, and another benefit of that transmission? at 80mph the rpms are 3500 afaik. better gas mileage to boot.

cfl, throw some 245s on there and you can cut that 60' down a few more hundreds. you should be able to hit 13s np.

crh claims that a lightweight flywheel is good for reductions measured in tenths. his flywheel and pressure plate are on my list of mods.

mwood, are there real gains from disconnecting the front sway bar?

and you dont have to worry about breaking it.

and sways. for front to rear transfer, not so much...

tire pressure and shock valving is all that is needed..

very true.

i dunno, i kind of disagree about tire pressure. i can run consistent 2.00 60' @ 32psi.

at 25psi my 60' goes to ****.

maybe im just not used to 25psi.
