1/4 mile time slip

I know i know... cars isnt made for 1.4 mile lol, but had a few friends running tonight, i figured i tag along and see what its got..

agency power midpipe
race roots exhaust
solid motor mounts
mazsport ignition
light weight flywheel
mazdaspeed CAI
accessport tunning

DSC all the way off, launching around 5,500 rpm range feathering clutch.

think the 3'' exhaust all the way back is holding back some power? loosing to much back pressure?

first time to the track with car, had 7 runs, and 15.2 was the lowest I got twice, started out at 16.8 lol

is there any particular reason that you started a new thread rather that adding this to the existing threads on the same subject?

Actually, 16.8 is great for 1.4 mile!

I wonder what you'd get at 1/4 mile...

because keeping info in one thread in the rx8club never happens.
to get spectators like you to leave your comments that have nothing to do with the topic posted.

And last but not least, searching threads on my phone doesn't work so well. would you like me to delete and repost on the other thread?

Did you delete a similar thread? I could have sworn I posted in a thread like this you made.

I just asked a common sense question. It's not like your original post contributes in any notable way such that it required starting a dedicated thread on an established topic at the very moment you only had your cell phone available

Yeah for some reason that post entered in with no info.. while this one had the pic and stuff so Idk... I deleted instead of having it hang around her.

And yes team, I was anxious to start my own thread, I had to do it right away! Hell I did it while going down the track!

I ran my car for the first time tonight, and the times were prettys similar to the OP's. I was hoping break into the 14's but I suppose 15.0 is close enough .

Here's what the fastest time slip looked like:

60FT: 2.1960
330FT: 6.3769
1/8 ET: 9.7711
1/8 MPH: 72.43
1000 ET: 12.5726
1000 MPH: NONE
1/4 ET: 15.0683
1/4 MPH: 92.75

Car Information:
Bone-stock 2004 mt with 83,000 miles. New motor, coil packs, and cat at 62,000. New plugs at 82,000; so it should be pretty healthy. Kumho Ecsta SPT tires at 28 psi in the rear.

Track conditions:
Elevation: 1,150 FT
Ambient Air Temp: 65F

Launching at 5-5,500 rpm's seemed to be the sweet spot given the conditions. I probably didn't feather the clutch as much as I should have.
Does this time seem alright? I was honestly expecting to go faster considering the motor is fairly fresh. I know there's some room with my driving, but not that much.

nice man, yeah you can get in the 14's if you play around with tire pressure and stuff. i was having a misfire at 5k, found and exhaust leak right after the header to the midpipe, and my resonators were shot, so back im ASSUMING there was very little back pressure.
I just did my coils, new gaskets, and replaced a resonator. The car feels allot more responsive then it did at the track.

next time we go, im hoping to get little faster times, if not oh well, its not a 1/4 mile car. either way i wont be disappointed.

I was in the Right lane.
This was my first run ever and I haven't tried again since.
Street tires, no burn out before launch.

RP High flow cat, RB Intake, MM Tuned, 55 shot of nitrous.

I was disappointed (thought I would get high 13's), however reflecting on it I know I could do better with a bit of practice.

Thumbs up

^ throw a FD or TII 5 speed in her and you'll be in the 13's
The RX-8's 6 speed is hurting your time.

Also get your 60ft down and that will help with your et.

What vehicle was in the other lane?

A Chrysler 300 SRT8 was in the other lane.
He had the A/C on Traction Control on smoking a cig and reading a magazine.

He took it easy on me

Going that fast in one try is really impressive; looks like you nutted the 60' too .

What sucked more than running a 15.0 was losing to an automatic 350z by 0.2 seconds. That one really hurt!

There's one glaring problem with your timeslip nobody has mentioned... you're trapping only 97.71 mph. Forget about whether you warmed up the tires, forget about the launch, forget about 60ft, forget about ET. You're only trapping a couple mile per hour more than a stock RX8. Typically, in order to run a 13.9X in a RWD car, you're going to have to trap near 100mph. Remember, ET is driver skill... mph is the car. You're either missing your shift points, or youre not making the power you should with your setup. For 13's, you can get away with trapping less than 100mph if youre running drag radials or if you have an AWD car.

Phew ... dude you are way over my head.
That was the first time I ever did a quarter mile.

I don't remember missing any shifts ... I mean ... I went thru each gear ...
Gotta be honest I'm not sure what exactly missing a shift means.

Arrow 1/4 track

Didnt want to create a new thread so I'm posting here.

I went to Bithlo(near Orlando) to do some fun runs and race a co-worker whos been running his mouth about how fast his 2011 AUdi A4 is.
Overall had a good time and won a dinner from my co-worker (beat him 3 straight times)

Here's a slip of my best time

I'm in the right lane #2248
This was on low boost @ 12psi with street tires and no launch.
Had lots of wheel spin in 1st, 2nd & some of 3rd, as expected with street tires.
Next time I go I'm throwing on my drag radials.

I have a video of the run as well I'll upload soon.
