1/4 mile and 1/8 mile

1/4 mile and 1/8 mile
I went to the 1/8 mile tack today at Qualcom Stadiom. It was a pack house today. At least couple of thousand people show up and 200 racers. The track is know for not being the best for traction. My best run was 9.86 at 73.4 mph with 2.450 60ft time.
My best run at that track is 9.802 at 74 mph with 2.380 60ft. Can anyone tell me what that would be in 1/4 time. And my best 1/4 mile time is 15.4 at 92.8 mph my 1/8 mile at 10.145 and a 2.450 60 ft time. How can I get a better 1/4 time. I drop the clutch at 3800 rpm. That seem to work best for me. Any suggestion. Thank You!

You can try many things to get a better 60ft. You can heat your tires up in the burnout box, or even lower tire pressure a few psi for a larger tire contact patch. Doing so will result in slightly more grip, which means you'll have to dump a little higher. maybe 4500-5000 rpms. Also keep in mind that track conditions play a big role as well. (how sticky the surface is, and also the temperature) Good luck to ya and keep us posted as your time goes down!

Just be careful with lowering the tire pressures. It usually works, but wheel hop can result (or more wheel hop in our cases).
You really should be able to get a 2.0-2.1 on the stock rubber, and that will help your times out incredibly!
I'm not a burnout queen on the RX8, so a bit of clutch/gas pedal modulation will be required to get the best 60'. That's what you need to work on for the best times... at least initially!

I'll trired to make out next friday the 12th. Also what tire pressure do u recamend for a 4000 clutch drop. SPD-FC hopefully I'll see you out their. I have a Winning Blue RX8 with ther aero package. That woud be great if u could go out their so we could compare our result. This is my 1st experience with a rotary, so I still have alot to learn about the car and the engine. Oh, by the way. Have a happy and safe Holiday!!

Lowering tire pressures will only help with the 60' times!
Try to drop only like 4 psi and take it from there.... rears only.... if you are a die hard, then take the fronts up whatever is on the sidewall for max.
I'm used to doing 1/4 times, but you mileage may vary
Good to have an air pump around to work the pressures (hint: there's one in the trunk ) just get a good gauge!

Yup, the air pump really come in handy. I don't see alot of RX8 at the dray strips, maybe because the car is fairly new and alot of people are still braking it in. However, the last time I was at an autocross event their were atleast 3 their. Only my was running though. It would be great if some of the RX8 owner would represent in the San Diego area. I feel kinda of lonely out their.

On radial tires i like to only do a quick spin of the tires and I run about 28-30psi in the rear, i'll hit you up when i go next to see if you can go. --chris

Hey that was a great time. Any advice for us amature. I seem to be have alot of trouble with wheel spin. I only drop at 3800 and if I try anything higher, I would just spin the wheel. I want to get my 60ft time down to atleast 2.2. Thank you and advice is greatly appreciatted.
