WTB: winter tires / wheels
I am looking for a set of 18" winter tires to continue my ice racing adventures this season. Tires must have more than 50% tread remaining (>80% preferred). I will consider wheel/tire combos if the price is right but I would prefer tires alot, for the price.
Blizzak WS-50/60 preferred, but any full winter (not all-season) tires could work.
I'm willing to drive to pick up.. Anybody got anything good?
Thanks,
-D

I think you're going to have a hard time finding WS 50 or 60's in an 18. If you're set on the 18, I think the Yokohama IG20 might be your best bet. I'll be ice racing on mine this winter and I have high hopes. But good luck finding any used.

I'll be doing timed ice runs with the Saginaw Valley Region SCCA in Michigan. It's not wheel-to-wheel like yours. I've also been rallycrossing on my new Yokohamas and at the last event in pretty deep snow, I was beating 2/3's of the AWD cars, much of which I would definitely chalk up to the tires. The same tire (on a much smaller wheel) took Antoine L'Estage and Andrew Comrie-Picard to 1st and 2nd at the 2008 Sno*Drift Pro Rally. I like them a lot better than my old Hankook W300's.

Ah, I looked at that area last year when we were having trouble getting ice in upstate NY. With gas prices being what they were, the drive was prohibitively expensive, but if we have any problems with weather this year I may trek up there once or twice..
