He's as bad as Can
Atom, I have been trying to also get a Auto-Power roll bar for my sunroof equipped 8 and its been nothing but problems. I strongly suggest you do not buy a roll bar though web / mail. When I ordered it I told IO – Racing (middle man) over and over my 8 has a sunroof, Auto-Power sent a roll bar for a non-sunroof 8 even though the order correctly noted that my 8 has a sunroof. IO Racing gets Auto-Power to send another bar that will fit in my 8, it arrived yesterday missing a part and with damage.
TWO other owners have also had problems ordering a bar via the web. I now have to hope the shipping company can find the missing part or I will have to go to a local welder and make a good bar from the two incorrect ones I now have. Auto-Power is located in San Diego; I would suggest you drive down to them so you avoid the fitment- shipping issues TWO customers have had. You should also try a local welder, they might be able to do something for you also.

There are many shops the specialize in making racing cages for cars. Its the only thing they do. Check with some local speed shops and get recommendations. Go there and take a look at their work. Inspect the quality of their welds. Show them a picture of the Auto-Power design and ask if they will replicate it.
I bought an AutoPower bar for my race car. There was an add on kit, that needed to be welded, to make it a complete cage. This was the route I took.
Have them take the measurements and make it to be put in later. If you try to weld in the car, the splatter will burn/melt things. And it will be difficult to weld all the way around the tubing.
Download an SCCA GCR rule book. If it fits their specs, it should be legal for most other racing series.
