RX-8 Overhaul kit

Hi guys. i have a problem. Car started mixing oil with water. Was told that engine needs rebuild. Any suggestions? Who has a list of all parts that has to change in engine? And the estimated price? I would appreciate any help.

A DIY rebuild is not cheap, nor easy.......

The pieces that wear and let in antifreeze are the housings - replacing these is like replacing the block, but keeping the pistons on a normal engine, and there is always the need to get stronger/lighter/ceramicer bits that will drive your budget thru the roof.

Low mile used motors go for around $1k/$1.5k in scrapyards and on Ebay.

Mazmart has some expertly rebuilt lumps, but these also suffer from the upgrading syndrome, and the prices scared me back to the 'bay.

I second buying used, LKQ has a 2004 with a 6 month warranty for $1500, and a 2007 with 14K miles for $2500 with warranty. But if you under 100K miles I would definately go the warranty route, if you dealer doesn't honor it, try another.

100,000 mile warranty from the factory on internal engine parts. as long as the vehicle/engine has not been modified dealerships must honor the warranty but are you SURE there is water in the oil or just a milky mess on the dipstick? BIG DIFFERENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! especially now that its getting colder it is normal to get condensation that collects in the dipstick tube. there is a technical service bulletin about this and a way to remedy the problem but no reason to go into that in depth until you are sure of whats goin on. i am a little dissapointed that someone else hasnt mentioned this already but if you would like more info please feel free to PM me

this should be under warranty, there should be no reason for you to do a rebuild yourself unless you are creating a powerful motor. thats an internal problem with the engine and you'll save yourself a lot of money.

Well guys I am restarting this post again since I was in the hospital for a very long time and wasn't able to access any pc. The was bought in the States but exported to the Caribbean. If I was able to get warranty at least on the parts I would be a happy man. If not I have no other option. Would buying another low mileage engine solves my problem? Can it happen again? I though that if I did the rebuild I would be sure to have a brand new engine. I would be really appreciate the feedback because I really love my car.
