WA HTC Thunderbolt + OBD2 Bluetooth dongle

Category: Accessories
Price: $145
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part Fits (you may select multiples): Others, Series I, Series II
Location (US State/Canada/Int): WA
Item Condition: Used

For sale is a complete amateur data acquisition setup consisting of an Android-based HTC Thunderbolt and an ELM 327 OBD Bluetooth dongle. Hook up the dongle to your OBD port, sync it up to the phone, and download apps like Torque and Track Master. You can then read and reset codes, view data from the ECU like temperatures, pressures, and calculated values like HP and MPG. You can also use the phone to record your sessions on the track and acquire data to match it, like GPS location, G-forces, and throttle position. Software on the PC, like RaceRender, will allow you to overlay the data on top of the video.

This is a great way to diagnose issues on your car, record your laps for later analysis and improvement, and to generate sweet videos. Plus, with it being an Android phone, you can do whatever else you want on the platform.

The phone is in near mint condition with no scratches on the screen. It also comes with an extended battery installed, the original battery, a case, and the original box. It also has a clean ECN and is ready to go. For the record, though, I never actually hooked it up to a cellular network and just used WiFi to get apps to it and data from it.

I'm asking $150 shipped for the entire setup.

Just a heads up, there is a chance that a mod will close this thread, not because of the obd2 dongle, but because the phone doesn't really classify as an 'rx8' or 'automotive' part. You may be better served posting this in one of the regional for-sale forums as they tend to be a bit more lenient.

Is Torque already installed or is the device reset to factory defaults?

It's still installed, but I wouldn't leave it that way. You'd have to have my account on the phone "forever" in order use it and that's not going to fly

Torque isn't all that expensive, so it probably doesn't matter much.

Tuesday bump. If you're interested in having Torque already on the phone, I can at least discount my price a little to compensate for it.

The dongle is sold so this is just a phone sell at this point. No more replies after this.
