FS - Harman Kardon drive + play!
This is a great solution for those looking to integrate their ipod into their car audio system. It is cheaper than most Ipod integration kits, and is very highly rated.
For sale is a brand new, in box, Harman Kardon Drive + Play kit, which allows you to control all the music-browsing capabilities of your Apple iPod with any car audio system. It comes with a backlit LCD screen that can be mounted on top of the dash to be easily viewable to the driver, and a five-button controller than will allow you to easily browse through your entire iPod, and will be very familiar and easy to operate for iPOd users. It can be positioned in almost any position that is most convenient to the driver. The "brain" is powered with any standard cigarette lighter, or 12V source (Ignition). All the wires and main controller or "brain," can be easily concealed (glove box, under seat) for a professional look. The backlit display will show a typical ipod menu, allowing you to browse through playlists, albums, songs, etc.
You all my be wondering how it connects to the actual audio system. It has a 3.5mm line output that can be directly connected to any input for probably the clearest/best quality sound. In the 8 I don't know you would be able to do this, unless theres someway to hardwire it into the back of the headunit. But no worries, you can also listen through an on board FM transmitter (contains 5 preset frequencies).
This system is compatible with all "docking" iPods, and its to my knowledge that it would also work with the new iPhone, but I'm not positive. It also works with the new iPod nano.
In summary:
* compatible with most iPods with dock connectors
* charges iPod when docked
* user-customized menu with intuitive navigation
* backlit LCD display with 128x64 resolution
* normal and reverse screen modes
* normal and large text modes
* contrast adjustment
* backlight timer
* power down, sleep modes
* five-button controller with rotary control ****
* control box with internal FM transmitter with five preset frequencies and one user-selectable frequency
* wired FM transmitter jack
* audio out jack
* auxiliary input with audio auto sense technology
* 12V DC car power adapter
* hard wire power harness
* universal mounting bracket
* control box mounting hardware
* controller mounting hardware
* audio cable
Online and in stores these retail any where from $70-$150+.
I am asking $55 USD, and shipping is available to anywhere in the US. If you're international, contact me and I'm sure we can arrange something. Weighs approx 1-2LBS so shouldn't be too expensive to ship. I will accept PAYPAL only.
Personally, I have used the Monster cables before, and other transmitters, and I think this system right here beats them all for a fraction of the cost. You don't have to fumble around for the iPOD, and you can keep your eyes on the road while browsing through music.
I have 3 available. I will try upload pictures a little later, but the boxes are unopened so you can look them up online to get an idea. Thanks,
greg
i took pictures of the actual boxes that I have, but their file size are too large to add. Contact me, and I can e-mail you further pictures

thx to pink flea for answering some of those questions for me. I only have 1 of these left, so first come first serve.
And as far as the mp3 thing goes, I thought I had read somewhere that it also contained an input for any mp3 player, but I don't think this is the case. As Flea mentioned it has an adapter specific for ipods, and I do not know for certain whether it has any other inputs. I've been looking around the internet to find out, and on the box, but I can't seem to find anything that indicates this. But I guess Flea would be the best person to ask considering he actually has the system installed in his 8. PM me before they run out!
thanks,
greg

I am around the West Palm Beach area, and no I won't be attending the meet unfortunately. It doesn't require any specific firmware, as the system is really completely separate from the rx8 stereo. It just plays through the FM, or aux in/hardwire. I am unable to let you try it out, as the system is sealed in the box, and I don't have one installed in my 8. If you look above I tried give a detailed explanation of how it works. The last unit may be gone - pending. If it hasn't been sold I will let you know.

Guys.. I have mine installed in my back console with my Ipod back there connected to it. It plays through my radio on preset channels through radio frequency, I dont have mine wired through the radio at all and it works just fine. I have the display to the right of my steering wheel on the dash and the controller is installed just below my shifter and to the left.
