While I was gone , some vendor talked the sales mgr into putting stripes on a couple of 8's. These stripes are too thin and too far apart. Had they been like the ones on the Ford GT, they might have been better. They did a red with white stripes that were a little bit wider and it looked much better. To make matters worse, they put them over the clear bra I had on the car. The wheels I got from Dealer Accents and exchanged out the stock wheels giving me a net of just under $600 for the set. The stock pressure sensors worked fine on these wheels. I had them chrome the stock wheels and replaced another set of stock wheels and they netted at $900. Since we can't get the polished wheels anymore, it's more cost effective than ordering the factory chromes.

I'm with Eccles, it does have a horrible Neon look to it.
On the bright side, I've heard Yellow RX-8's with specifically black racing stripes run at 280hp, and isn't that the same spec. as the Evolv concept?

Budaman,
Why would you put a clear bra on the front? Is it the same as Clearguard? I saw a Ford Mustang today that had the clearguard put on last year "new" and let me just say this....it is UGLY! Can see the definite line difference between the clearguard and the car...I'd almost rather chance a few dings here and there then see that look....

The one I put on is made by 3M. I did the entire kit that covers the full nose and about 8" up the hood. There is a very fine line on the hood where it ends that you can see if you look at it from certain directions. I put it on my Red demo also and I can honestly say it is effective. Loaned it out to a service customer last week and they ran into something causing damage to the bra but it didn't scratch the nosepiece or damage the paint. Had it not been on I would have had to paint the entire nosepiece. Also the vendor did it on a consignment basis, so unless I sell it, it won't cost me anything. I don't know however if I could justify the retail price of this particular kit. I didn't put it on my wife's Titanium RX-8 that she bought last week. I also didn't put stripes on hers!

I've seen the clear bra on many cars. Some look horrible, others are almost invisible.
I saw it on a white mustang at the dealer, and it was awful. I couldn't believe how bad it looked.
A friend who is an installer put it on my sunlight silver 8, and it looks really nice. Unless you're up close, you can't even see it...

This car belongs to a guy in our "region." I personally think it's the best application of stripes on an 8 yet. Of course I'd opt not to have stripes at all, but this actually looks pretty good.

The only thing that would be worse than those stripes would be to paint an 8 with that "Chameleon" ****. Why the Hell do dealers do crap like that? Of course, I guess there's always going to be some tool that will get a chubby when he sees "racing" stripes.
HOWEVER...the offset stripe...not quite so bad.
BTW, that stinger on the bumble-bee photochop gives me an idea...The VW Beetle Baja Exhaust Mod. Get yours today!!!!

someone just had to revive this thread, the yellow is one of the cleanest looking colors the 8 ever had, why ruin it (or any other color for that matter) with stickers? at least paint the stripes or do something a little different like ghost checkers or something. (I do give points to the one with the RX8 logo in it, not my style but at least it's not some tired looking sticker stripes)
