I own the RB Intake and Ram duct, it was one of the first things I did when I bought the car in 2005.
As far as HP and fuel efficiency - it did nothing really (but how do feel 3 hp if that ... who knows?)
I always liked the way it looked, especially over the AEM and Mazdaspeed intake (bleh).
But now that BHR has a whole kit to make the intake area look good I would consider that ..... ...
However you have to remember that on any of these systems if you want to clean the air filter its a lot more work than stock.....
I think if I was to do it all over again, I would just buy the K&N flat panel replacement.

Momentum Keeps Me Going
It's fun to buy and install, but as to worth it....??? .. there is little engine related that's 'worth it' if you are looking for more power on an RX-8 outside of...a CAT delete combined with an ECU reflash/mod to take advantage of it or FI.
That being said, I think the RAM duct is useful as is possible to be if you track the car where the +90mph speed actually can help with some colder airflow to the engine. And of course getting rid of the stupid V-FAD helps some with power delivery across the RPM range (but not power increase).
