yes - it's a real tattoo - the shine is from the ointment on it - it was just done, so it's still fresh - i'll post a better pic of it when it's all healed, looks better, and can have someone take a clearer pic of it. and to let you know, i lost my rx-8 about 6 or 7 months ago - i don't have the car anymore - i got the tattoo because i had a lot of memorable moments when i did own it. like i said - everyone has there own way of remembering a point of time in there life - this just happened to my way of remembering it. i only posted it on this site because i figured, as fellow RX-8 fans and Rotory fans, you might appreciate it as well - of course i'm sure the meaning you see behind it is different than mine. so you guys can criticize how you wouldn't of done it if you want, and talk about how your crosseyed grandparents could've done it better, but the meaning for this goes way beyond the car in my eyes. if you can't understand that, then you have no place putting negative comments about my tattoo on my thread anyways. all of those that do appreciate this tat, or know where i'm commin from, feel free to post your feelings on it.
thanx for the respect, and i hope everyone gets a cleaner meaning of why i've done this... if not, go away lol

I don't buy Kool-Aid
I feel ya on the car. I love machines too. Just that I would have gone with a more cleaner look for a tatt then the sketch look. http://www.prickstattoos.com/gallery/

Well, to make a long story short, i was one of the thousands that got laid off of my job from the economy shift that took place a couple years years ago (i used to be a loan advisor on home mortgages), so basicly, i just couldn't afford to pay for it anymore - i couldn't find another job quick enough that would pay me well enough to keep it, so i had to sell it in order to save my credit, and prevent a repo. I do plan on buying another one sometime in the future, but only time will tell when that happens

alright - i took another pic this morning before putting more ointment on it, so it doesn't look as shinny to the camera. so here's a slightly cleaner pic of the tat.

Just a comment:
I respect the meaning of it and understand where you're coming from and that's cool. But, IMO whoever the artist is should not be able to hold an ink-gun for the rest of his life.
I mean come'on, if you wanted some real meaning to come out of it and bring life to it then you should've went to a reputable artist. From the looks of his/her work it looks a little bland.
It looks like the artist didn't give much love to his work. If you don't mind me asking--how much did you dish out?

i got the tat from one of my good friends, and i actually didn't have to pay for it - i helped him rebuild his engine on his 87 porsche 924s, and the tattoo was one of his ways of paying me back for the help that i gave him. i thought it was a fair trade, and i don't think it came out to bad... it does need to be touched up in some area's, but i think overall it came out pretty good. some of it looks more off in the pic then it does in person, because the camera can't capture the shape of my arm - the tat kinda curves around my muscle, so some areas seem to be a bit crooked on the pic, because i obviously can't turn my arm as the camera shoots the pic.

Well, if you're ever in the L.A. area and want to touch it up-- these folks are damn good. I've had some work done by one of their artist--he's no longer there but I'm definitely going back for some more. You should check out Erica Stanley's work.

Polak should make a decal of that for a fake tattoo. THAT would be cool. So, for all these meetings you could have that on one arm and your RX8Club.com name on the other. That'd be badass.
