So......you want to get this car so your driving habits improve....so....you want to modify it with a Turbo!!

Are'nt you the guy that wanted to drop a 6speed in his auto 8? Why would you make the same mistake twicw and but another auto?

Hrm... What kind of tires does the Altima come with? By the way, did you notice anyone else typing responses in this thread recently? Seems like it's just you and I in this thread.

Must you bring up the past? I would simply add the turbo just for show. To know I can smoke any person that pulls up next to me in a 350z or some **** like that. Meaning I dont have to race them. Because I know I would win.

uhhhhhh. I think they come with the same tires as the RX-8 - 225/45/18.

I'm starting to think I've been had and this was just a trolling post. Why would someone who owned an RX-8 want an Altima? :P

OOOOOH that guy! I am not so offended by this proposed trade anymore. I was thinking who in their right mind would want to go from and 8 to an altima, but now I realize it is someone who wants to win street races, i.e straight lines cause his g-parents won't let him go to a track.

They're pretty funny, I get a good chuckle out of a lot of RSX owners on that site. Lets see... Vtec is the greatest thing to ever be added to a car, 3rd gear in an RSX allow you to pull on just about anything besides a top fuel dragster, if the other car has AWD or a Turbo it's cheating, and their interiors are a work of art. It's not nearly as bad as it was a couple years ago, but still a lot of diehard fanbois on that site. Fanbois of any car just bug the hell out of me, but it seems there are a few cars out there that really seems to attract the fanboi mentality.

This is the first one here in my City. So unlike the 4 rx8's I would have the first.

I am pretty sure since this Altima is the SER version it can be seriously tuned. Especially since it is the 3.5 L engine. Maybe hit it up with a Skyline Turbo setup. But I dont know if it could fit.

So basically all I am asking for is your opinion on the trade in.

I love the 8 and the Altima SER is insane looking.

Its a tough decision. I was probably gonna end up trading the rx8 in anyways. So maybe I should just get a new vehicle.

Anyways I look forward to your opinions and complaints on my decision.
I test drove a SE R about 1 month ago and absolutely loved it. I own a ''02''Altima 3.5 and the power is great for me. People that say ''if you want a family car than sure'' forget what they say. Its not meant to be a sports car. My car is very good on power. It is faster than the 8 and MOST of the cars on the road today. But it is no match for the 8 in the twisties. The SE R was alot of fun to drive. If you like eating up ricers than get the SE R. If you like sport car style and handeling than stay with the 8. The 8 will have it's respective power soon. So do you want just good power and speed or handeling and sweet looks. As much as I like my car and it's hp and wide powerband I will be getting the 8 and not the SE R. The SE R isn't a car with loads of power as a viper or a ferrari but it is good for the money. Stay with the 8 and wait for turbo :D

The funny part is the 'now' with 3.5l. Nissan uses the same motor and platform in 8 different cars I can think of.

I think you should get one. No really, go today.

Let us overlook the parts of a car that define a sports car and just buy into the cheap hp war because power is everything.

I agree with Ike. As I mentioned in another thread, I thought the Altima was outdated, which may not have been the right term. But I meant the model/body style has been out for a while. This new Se-R version is a few last stabs by Nissan at reviving this model which will be soon due for a makeover.

yes jasonhamilton, it does have the same size tires as an rx8.
No it was the Altima. It was a dealer car. They had 1 red one on the lot. I took mine in for a leather repair and the sales man saw me looking at it and offered me a test drive. I was under the impression that they only came in manual. The one I drove was a shiftable auto. It's the same set up as mine but with diff looking rims and some extra ammenities :D

My Acura CL Type S had 260HP, and with FWD it would promptly either torque steer itself to death, or plow like crazy.

Not as sporty as the 8. It's handeling is good but not comparable to the 8. I would like to have the power of SE R in the 8. That would be nice. I can wait till'the 8 comes twin turbo or a turbo kit comes out for it. So the 8 hands down overall.

In spite of the rediculousness of the thread starter--I will try and comment on the Altima; the SER is nice--however it is redundant, you can get a G35 with more performance and RWD, also the Altima will still torque steer like an Altima, depreciate like any Altima, and not get a lot of looks like any Altima. The buyer base for this car will be narrow--and the Altima SE-R will not beat a 350Z, 0-60 time on this car will probably be about 5.7=5.8 with the 6speed. The Auto SE-R will still be a second behind--its a high 6 low 7 second car with Auto tranny. You are disillusioned kid, you must don't know how to drive a stick for you to complain about an auto RX8 then try and get into an Auto Altima. Get real

Keep the RX-8 you don't want a front wheel drive car. That much torque in a FF will give you torque steer, and it will get worse when you add more power.

BTW the turbo and supercharger kit for the Z and G35 are made for rear wheel drive engine layout so it will not fit in the Altima SER.

I have to say I would take the AT Altima over and AT RX-8, but honestly I wouldn't want either of em. Both are pretty flawed when it comes to what I want in a car.

Sounds like the SE-R is faster in line, but can the rx8 out handle it?
