Got your logs, digging through them now. I agree though I dont see any errors. I will see if i can reproduce it somehow.

 

I found one location where I didn't dump an error message to the log file. It might be where you are having problems (the exception handler would show a 'connection timed out' message to the screen). I am going to push out an update, and when this happens again we should get some more information about the error you get.

 

kk, I'll have to find another thread that triggers it. Any of the big threads are typically good candidates though.

 

No odd errors in a while.

A feature request though. Any chance of a way of saving post text for later submission? I'm thinking something that stores a post until submission is confirmed, so a signal drop doesn't make you lose what you typed. Either manual or automatic saving. Semi-'offline' mode, is one way of looking at it.

No rush. I keep losing signal commuting through NYC, so often have to just hold on a screen waiting for signal to come back to press submit. I doubt it's a common problem.

I wouldn't mind tagging a number of threads to temporarily store locally either, so I can read through them while underground.

Let me know if I can add more work to your shoulders!

what about something along the lines of not opening another app like internet when i click on a picture or link. not bad or anything its just kind of a hassle to go back and forth between the two. by all means its a great app.

Currently experiencing a problem. Using a 2012 Nexus 7 with 4.4.4, I think, and the app won't let me post a new thread. Just kicks it back to main menu saying "No Internet". While I am only on WiFi, my signal is strong. I attempted three times.

My only issue with the app is that I can't start NEW threads. all else seems to work just fine.

when I tap "NEW THREAD" I get a notice that I don't have internet and the app restarts.

other than that, its great. love it.

You may have been running into the New Member restriction, which requires 30 days and 10 posts before it's lifted, which should have happened yesterday for your start date and post count.

Paimon, perhaps a quick check on join date and post count to give a separate warning if that is going to be the error?

 

Yea I do these checks and users would see a message that says they dont have permission to do that due to new user restrictions. Actually tested this last night with a new user I created. I need to dig a bit deeper as to what is going on here.... it does look new member related (Although i dont see any issue using the app with a new user account i created).

Nailo911 mind shooting me some logs (export button in the settings page) (please make sure you have the latest version available (1.2.50) as it has additional logging enabled).

It could be that your app is seeing that there shouldn't be a restriction, but the forum software hasn't actually lifted it yet, since it can take about an hour after the requirements are reached if they stay logged in, or after the first log in since the requirements are reached. In Nailo's case, he hit 10 posts with 5 days to go on the requirement, so the forum didn't even check until after he logged in today, in which case it can take up to an hour for it to recognize and clear. Your app wouldn't have that delay.

 

Ahhhh very interesting. Admittedly all the application does to validate if the restriction exists or not is it prefetches the 'new thread' page. If the page responds and contains the message 'you do not have permission' (i forget what the actual message is) then I let the user know. I'll have to hit 10 posts on my test account and see if the message is a bit different or something when you only meet half the requirements or something.

 

I wish this was on the Blackberry Platform. I recently moved to a Blackberry Z10 due to data restrictions.

just downloaded for Samsung Note 3 running Android 4.4.2. looking forward to the app since for some reason my iPad keeps signing me out of the website, also the reason why i never post and just lurk.

 

Glad to hear it. I too have the N3 w/ 442 so you shouldn't have any issues
