RX-8 style tails for the Nissan 180SX
I wasn't sure where to post this but I found this item up for auction in Japan. They're RX-8 style tails for the Nissan 180SX.

The 180SX has numerous owners who for some reason want to make their cars look like other cars.
Here's one (of many out there) with a front end conversion to a S13 Silvia (known as a Sileighty):

Another with a S15 front end conversion (known as a Sil1580) :

So it's no surprise that they have decided to copy the 8's tailights.

Because the the 89-94 240SX (S13) was actually both the Nissan Silvia and 180SX, many people like putting other Silvia and 180SX parts on them. The fastback 240SX was the 180SX and people usually put the the factory body kit and taillights on them that was sold in Japan. Or they put the front end of the S15 Silvia on the car and call it a S13.5. The coupe verious of the S13 was the Nissan Silvia, but with the front end of a 180SX. So the owners of those cars often put the Siliva front end on their cars, since that's what it would have looked like anywhere but the USA. So, many of the modified 240SX in the USA aren't really trying to look like other cars, but trying to make them look like differnent/newer versions of their car that weren't sold state side.
I hope that all made since.

The S14 and S15 front end kits were made available since the average drifter in Japan had invested what little money they had in their S13 and could not afford to upgrade to a genuine S14 or S15 (which were essentially the same car rebodied).
If you have ever seen a bona fide Japanese Drifter, they look like pieces of **** held together by duct tape, cable ties and kilos of bog.
They certainly weren't doing the conversions for the showcar scene, more as a functional modification (cheaper to repair).
NOT HATING, JUST EDUCATING.

Just as a side note....Is anyone else having trouble posting w. their signatures? I've had to click mine on for all my post for the past week despite the fact that I have it checked under my forum user options to be on.
