I would think the ls1 would be similar in weight as the renesis with turbo.

the aluminum LS1 weighs 430lbs. the iron block weighs 80lbs more.

the renesis weighs 344lbs. the difference is not that huge.

We drove it for the first time yesterday.
It has plenty of power

The gearing is very low, we are using the stock 4,44 differential.
First gear is almost useless.

We are using a Camaro steering rack and oil pan.
And there are no gauges yet, the 8 uses CAN bus cluster so I think it is impossible to use it with this setup.

What engine management are you using? Were you able to retain ABS?

Great project. Very impressive. Please post some videos!!! Are you running open manifolds right now?

Yah, the stock differential gearing is 3.46 in the GTO, and if they change it, nobody goes over 3.91 with the M6. 1st is useless the way that T56's ratios are set up with anything higher than 3.91.

Nice work atilla.

I'm starting to buy parts up for a custom turbo setup, but damn I'd much rather go the piston route... 115k on the clock I need to make up my mind soon.

Either way the placement looks great interms of weight balance. I would be interested in seeing how far back that LS can go without heavy fab to the firewall.
....

If I'm not mistaken all the electronics (ABS, Drive by wire, TCS, DSC, A/C) are now garbage and you would be running a stand alone haltech or similar.

You are right, we had to move the ABS unit, it was not going to work with the GTO PCM so we removed it.
We are using the GTO PCM modified with EFI Live.

The exhaust is hooked to the stock rear silencer for now and it is too quiet for my taste.

About the steering rack, the 8 has an electronic power steering that would take a lot of work to be able to work with this setup.
It also had to be moved so we decided to go with the Camaro rack.

More pics later.
