concept...

taking some measurements...

Modeling the vents...
The pink object is the block of apoxie that was scanned into the computer so I could capture the correct surface contours of the hood.

Experimenting with different mesh patterns...

Final design(left)...

laying out the templates(measure 5 times cut once )...

Looks about right!

Forgot to take some pics of the cutting, have to jump to test fitting, Was very patient with the dremel and rasps and files...

First vent in,

Second vent went about twice as fast...

3DS Max?

did you 3d print that bitch and drop it right in? noice.

How do you go from the epoxy stage to the digital stage? As in, how do you get the contours of the epoxy translated into the computer? Do you have a 3D scanner??? :D Orrr..... did you take perfect 2D views and stitch them together? Dont tell me you used 123Dcatch, its impossible to use.

We have 3 different 3d sanners. different scaners for different uses. you can see how much higher res the vent apoxie scan is than the trunk,,,
For the trunk I only really needed a rough idea of the surface data. The ducktail will be machined in foam then test fitted, then glassed over. Will mount with original spoiler hardware
