majority (if not all) of rota's wheels are replicas...
Rota Auto-X = SSR Type-X
Rota Boost = Advan RG II
Rota D2 = SSR Professor SP1
Rota Grid = Volk TE37
Rota GT-3 = GAB Sports
Rota Group-N = Mugen Weapon RNR
Rota JMAG = Mugen M7
Rota P45F/P45R = Nismo LM GT4
Rota Real Lite = Gram Lights 57-Maximum
Rota Slipstream = Spoon SW388 / Desmond Regamaster Evo
Rota Torque = Work Emotion CR Kai
Rota Track R = Sprint Hart CP-R
and thats not even all of them. i dont think Rota will get sued that many times.
plus what about shineautoproject and the countless other people who make replica body kits?

the SSRs can look different (curvy or straight spoked) depending upon the wheel fitment. Rota's D2 are definitely replicas of the SSRs

this is not true, the Spoon wheels are actually the Regamasters sold under the Spoon name. if you look on the inside of a spoon wheel you will see a desmond sticker there
im not sure how little of a change you are speaking of though. the way rota works is they have one face that they copied from the original, and they use that face throughout most of their different offsets but just add more to the hub area (dont know if i said that right). what i mean is if you take the P45R with a +30 and a +25 offset, one wont be more concave or have more lip than the other, the difference in offset is basically like having a spacer built in to the wheel. if this is what little change you mean then i guess you're right.

Before this gets out of hand let me put in my two cent on this subject!! What exactly is JDM looking to you? Can you please explain? IMO whoever is rocking Work Meisters, SSR Proffesors and D2's their cars that i have seen looks JDM to me!! You talk about heavy looking wheels, but mesh rims look heavy too!! So i don't get it? why do people get mesh rims? Its all preference!! Each person has different taste in what they like and don't like!!
Now to me this is JDM
Mesh rims are cool especially on the 8. This is JDM to me!!!
Mesh rims are JDM but it can go either way especially on bimmers
I found a pic of your car!! I like the mesh rims!!! So i guess your pic is a very good example of a JDM car??? IMO i don't think its low enough and the offsets are not low enough to rock these wheels!! Thats my opinion!!

Trust me i've see these rims in person the 18x9 30et does have a concave look to it and the center is deeper. there is definitely a big difference from the 18x8 and the 18x9 D2!!!! I've also see the 18x8 et25 and it concaves also and has a deeper center compared to the higher offset d2's

Off topic...
What are the sizes and offsets of your D2's?

you've got 2 different wheel widths there which would require a different face. i specified that the same face would be used for different offsets, of course a different wheel width and/or diameter would require a separate face

lol, i knew if i said jdm all hell would break loose.
(trying to stay civil here)
sorry i missed a few posts not sure whre to start. i totally agree everyone has their own opinion. i sometimes think mine look heavy compared to stock, being bigger and black but then again when you are up close you can see so much behind the wheel they look light. i know mesh has typicaly been associated with euro cars as well. its just i have seen a lot of old american cars with big 5 spoke wheels, and i think the lip does not look flat maybe that is what doesnt do it for me? is the lip flat?
@ 07bb08, well smaller and thiner i think. i would not necessaly say mine look dare i say it jdm, the above cars deffinitly do but slap them on a stock car and its a little bit different story. i also think color changes any wheel.
maybe i missed it but why do people like these (see thread headline) again?
