please post impressions, I am in the market for a new clutch, and will do the flywheel at the same time. Also, where did you get it, and how much if you don't mind. TIA.

ok the reason im getting a new tranny replace was because it was defective. the synchros blew.... the techs said it was mainly due to engaging gears too fast... well i guess im going to shift lightly from now on.
i will definitely let you guys know how it goes when i get the car back tomorrow. i bought the flywheel from www.rx7store.net for $385 shipped and bought the clutch from a forum member. so just stick around and ill update you guys.

I read in GRM a few months ago, that for high tech trannies like ours, shifting needs to be smooth, precise, and not forceful, so as not to damage all the high tech goodies built in.
only if you go about it like a bull in a china shop. with the proper heel 'n toe technique, and be mindful of what gear you are in, and are not too forcefull with it, the tranny holds up fine. some of our locals have done 15 or so events, with no trouble. not bad all things considered. Consider this, just about anyone autocrossing a Subaru WRX, not the Sti, but the basic WRX, will need a new tranny after one season of autocross. That I would consider fragile.

ok, i just got my car back from the dealer. once i turned on my car and tried to get out of the parking lot... i died out lol. the clutch was stiffer and the catch point was lower. the tech told me that i should take it easy for atleast 400 miles for the break in period. but i cant take waiting so long so i took it to 9k rpm about twice just to see if i notice any difference from stock. i noticed that the rpm goes up much faster and shifting becomes easier and smoother (well i have the rp short shifter installed too). so my impression for this combo is very good and satisfying. it was what i was expecting. anyways dont expect too much in this mod... it definitely made a difference but not a day and night difference. well, for those of you who has the same or similar set up should know what im talking about and for those of you who doesnt have it, i recommend it.

Had my mazdapeed flywheel installed with my new tranny. Yes, Mazda covered the tranny (car was 15 mo. old, 12000 miles) as its grinded at the 3 to 4 shift at redline. Made for a noticeable "feel" difference, and I since validated it as I can inch away from a buddy now whereas before we were always even.

mazda did cover the tranny, but they said if it ever breaks again then it wouldnt be cover by warranty. i guess cause the tranny is very pricey to be replaced. anyways my next mod would be the SS clutch line from rotary extreme. the clutch line isnt an expensive mod and i think it can really improve the feel of the clutch. i have seen a lot of good reviews of this mod especially with the new clutch.
and for the rb flash, i think its a must if you are planning to stay n/a and i agree that it will be beneficial

I think it's the second page where I put my first impressions
edit: make sure to order/get/borrow a puller if you're doing it yourself like I am (help of a few buddies). Getting mine from RB, great price $35 along with some brake stuff.
