i have them on my red and black interior and they look really cool. no offense but i think it looks much better with the red accents. just my opinion.

i actually didnt put one on the front passenger side because i thought it was just a little "too much" but it looks nice on the driver side and back seats.

my feet never slide around when its wet out. i actually feel a little better tracking in mud with those rather than the cloth ones.

Thumbs down

Well, I don't quite see the point of checkerplate floor mats ... unless they are for a pickup truck. I think a floor mat needs to catch the debris and water from your shoes, yet be easy to clean.

Sorry, but you wanted opinions.

I can take constructive critcism, and it all seems to be in a tasteful manner. Everyone likes their car the way they like it, I thought these looked good for shows but not for everyday driving, and of course everything can be modded to fit any car. Thats what we are all here for right. So I will be taking these opinions and ideas and applying them to the FREE floormats I got and see what I can come up with, this is a no lose situation for me and thats why I asked, had I spent a lot of money on them I may have been a little more upset, but hey I have been in car clubs and organizations for over 5 years, and I know everyone has and will express their opinion, and believe me I am not a "whinner" like some of the people on here that don't even have an RX-8!!!

I keep the undercarpet clean even in muddy situation. It is functional I guess. I don't have a problem with the design but as I said if there are some RX8 or MazdaSpeed logo in that will be nice.

Good effort to cut the metal to fit too!

My 1999 Miata has a "good quality" aluminium floor mat that I purchased from Toronto after market shop for about $100 Cdn. I was told that it was made in Germany so it took a couple of weeks to arrive. I'm guessing it was sourced from IL Motorsports. I'm delighted with the high quality and fit and liked the look with metal foot pedals.

For my 2004 Miata I bought sight unseen a second hand home made set for $30 from another Miata owner who was selling his car. The quality of the aluminum was so flimsy and tops scratched so much that I was afraid to put then in a new car for fear of ripping the carpet! I gave them away to a kid with a Honda who didn't care if they fit or not just that they were shiny.

So caveat emptor and you do sometimes get what you don't pay for. I'm looking for a source of "good quality" aluminium floor mats for my new RX8. Regretably my Toronto after market store says the German manufacturer has not yet cut a set for RX8. My search of the net turned up this source

http://www.autoaccessorystore.com/ho..._id=&sec_name=

Aluminum Floor Mats

Available Model RX8 (04-05)
Option Front Mats Only Front ($89) & Rear Mats (+ $10)
Border Soft-Smooth power coated edges 3D Clear border (+ $30)

Price: $129 plus $17 shipping = $146 US @1.33 = $194 Cdn plus Cdn taxes

Has anyone purchased these and can comment on quality?
Does anyone have another source for high quality aluminum floor mats?
Tx for any & all feedback. BJ

Well I obviously have them. And they are high quality, but its hard to get the fit just right. I would be happy to sell you mine to see if you can adjust them better than I. Or I can give you the contact I had for cutting them for me. Let me know what you think.

Talking

It kind of reminds me of an old pickup truck floor without carpet. To each his own ... but I just don't see the point. Metal floor mats? Hey, why not glass? Now that would be different. Whaddya think?

I traded a friend who made them for my Cougar when I had that car. I just traced the floor mat and had him cut to those specs. So I didn't have to pay for them. They would probably be around $100.

the only thing I don't like about them is if you got in your car with wet shoes, the water would run right off the metal mat and get into your carpet in areas that would stay damp and grow mold and mildew.

Good Point. Water has not been an issue with my summer use fair weather Miata but I can see it being a problem with slushy winter conditions. Shiny aluminium is very slippery with wet feet after walking through rain puddles. Winter will require changing out to all season OEM mats. Thanks for the heads up or soles down so to speak. BJ
