These were taken less than two weeks ago at Atlanta Motor Speedway. They are of the 1991 IMSA GTO Championship winning RX-7. It has just been refreshed by Downing Atlanta at the request of Mazda North American. The Downing team were originally the folks who campaigned and maintained it and it's twin.
The driver in the photos is Jim Downing himself and of course the car is equipped with a 26b 4 rotor motor. We recently did an audio phile that got ruined so the least I can do is provide some photos. The AMS shots were taken by Rick Engman the engine builder who has done about 50 of these.

Mazda took it back to California last week tuesday. It should be at Sevenstock. They also took the RX-2 in the pictures. That's the famous 'Car and Driver RX-2', the first rotary car to win races in US. It belongs to Mr.Downing.
Ryan, we'd love to have you do an article or two on some very interesting rotary cars.
