Try $4700 a year. I also have 15% off for driver's ed and good grades. My record is 100% clean. No speeding tickets, wrecks, nothing and it is $4700. Then, my dad started searching around for other insurance companies, and they told him that the RX8 was either too problematic to insure or was too expensive when damaged to insure. He did not find that too comforting and neither did I.

Just out of curiosity, how much does an 8 cost in the US??
Man, I was reading through and surprised when you said you paid part of it doing lawn, even for 3 years. Here in Indonesia, we have to work it like crazy + an arm and a leg just to be able to afford one.
I am so moving out to the US.
I wonder what you'll drive when you turn 21...a Maranello perhaps...

Hey man, i know what you mean. I've had a job for about 2 years now and i've done the same thing my whole life with my money, just savin everything i had for a car. I'm 16 too and with the money ive saved my parents are chippin in and i should most likely be gettin my 8 for christmas. I'm so happy to hear that there are more 16 year olds with this car because it makes me feel a little less spoiled haha. Nice car man, take care of her.

Hmmmmm. I'm surprised your parents let you get that car. Not because you don't deserve it, but there is something unsettling about teens and sports cars. Not that I'm old by any means (24 as of a couple hours ago). Be careful and enjoy the ride.

So for the 16 year old girl that gets a brand new Mercedes Benz do we harp on her if she posted? Whatever your financial situation is, just enjoy the ride and be carefull. Some teens have had 5 cars by 18y/o, while others never own a car in their entire life. I think most of us come here because we love our 8 and want to share the experience. Please do.

too lazy to read this right now but Im sure its full of "16 is too young to have a car like this!"
Sure, there are some 16 year olds who are the most immature beings in the world, most of them, in fact, however - that is not to say all 16y/o's are. In fact, someone who lives on me who is a mere 17 (iirc) drives a c5 z06 (payed for entirely himself - stock investments/job) and he is more mature than many many adults. Never drives fast on streets, no tickets, tracks his car all the time.
